Dick will be on minimum wage anyway, he won't make much difference if Macaffer signs or not. I think Macaffer will re-sign, McCarthy is the one who might be traded. If Dick retires then we shud re-sign the Caff.

Time to get angry.......it's happening.
We should. Whether that happens is another thing. Seems the club/ Buckley have other ideas unfortunately.
Club just don't seem to be offering Macaffer a contract. Whether that has to do with money or whether Buckley doesn't rate him, I don't know the details.
Shame the club don't seem to be considering a trade of Simon Buckley instead to give us that chance to retain Macaffer if salary cap is an issue.
Even a trade of Blair now would be a better choice with Ugle and Elliot who can both replace him easily enough and play a similar enough game up forward.

Who knows what the club is doing? A few hours ago according to a lot of people we weren't offering Toovey a new contract either and he was on the trade table. We should. Whether that happens is another thing. Seems the club/ Buckley have other ideas unfortunately.

Who's Brett?
The media incorrectly called Caff 'Brett' last week.
The rumour I have heard is that Collingwood offered both Toovey and MaCaffer two year deals yesterday, and Toovey accepted almost on the spot, but that MaCaffer and his management are "testing the waters" more so then Toovey's management were.
I hope this rumour is true, as at least it means we have an offer out there for Caff now, and it's basically up to him and his management if they want to accept it or not.
My bet is tomorrow morning we will get a similar story regarding Caff, and he will accept a 2 year deal also.
McCarthy and Dick are gone, either way it seems, Dick more so has made the decision himself to retire, while McCarthy has been squeezed out due to salary cap concerns and not really being a top 25 player at the club anyway.

Everyclub makes mistakes and we have just made a big one. Just hope it doesnt affect us winning the flag next year. Dont know why we would wanna keep a bloke that shopped himself around. Shattard!
I'm not all to impressed
Toovey holds the club at ransom yet still gets a two year contract.
MaCaffer had his two year contract taken off the table despite never going to the extents that Toovey did.
Not happy

I think we are done now for trade week and will not do any more trade even with McCarthy.

There is still Monday left in trade week. Given McCarthy has asked to move on for greater opportunities, as opposed to money reasons, It would not surprise me at all to see him get traded somewhere tomorrow.
Yep i think the club will do a trade to see jMac get to his club of choice, probably for a junk pick (5th round or something) but it would be nice if we got something half decent.
Might as well get a Player for McCarthy then
Why would we want a player Dave, when we have Macaffer to resign?
Also, any player we'd get for J-Mac would pretty much be a list clogger- not even a fringe player.
Take any pick or pick upgrade that we can for J-Mac and just do a deal out of good will for him.
Then Might as well De-List him then
The club made him an offer, then pulled it off the table. That is disgraceful behaviour on our managements behalf as the Caff's manager has been on record saying that he wants to stay.
Why?
A late pick or a pick upgrade is better than nothing.
Hell, even if we are going to give him away for nothing, doing the right thing by the player is better than just throwing him to the scrapheap and hanging him out to dry. See Anthony Corrie a few years ago and how we obtained him.
If a club comes calling on Monday for J-Mac, I fully expect the club to deliver him there, after all he isn't leaving for money, rather opportunities.
