I think he wanted to see out the stadium redevelopment and stage 5 doesn't start until next year - so maybe it's all timed to complete that and name it the Brian Cook Stand as he walks out the door..

Good news....I suppose. Look, he helped save the club so what can you say? BUT doing the same job for too long can make you take things (and fans in this case) for granted.

Just wish the club was a bit more transparent, and gave a bit more to the supporters...like proper VFL coverage like other clubs can do.

I am a bit nervous about Sutherland after the way his time at Cricket Australia finished up.

So two years to make sure he knows what he is doing is very smart, or two years to find someone else might be good as well.

I'm hoping that this puts an end to the threat of the club's Board compounding their serious error of judgement with Sutherland. Hopefully this means he is not being lined up for the CEO role (Saint Brian's appointment wouldn't be 2 years I would think if he was). Surely they realise how foul the place would smell if he became Chair, even with Saint Brian in the CEO role. Hopefully the 2 years isn't to settle Sutherland in as Chair, trading on Saint Brian's credit chips.

I'm guessing there are two primary reasons for the extension. One is related to completing the re-development. The other is to find and groom a successor. Each time he's done that - Fox and Reeves - the Hawks have pinched him.

The Last 7 years wouldnt have happened if he was one of the greatest.

Prooved excellent when he was helping save the club financially (he knows how to bleed funds from governments and corporate donors like no one else) and when he didnt get along with the coach.

However he is too biased in his assessment of his best mate scott and its greatly impacted his performance. He also doesnt seem to understand geelongs history and what makes it fans proud given the direction the club has been on. Has also showed a shocking disregard for the media and entertainment side of the business. Our media department is an embarrasment on all fronts.
