The Last 7 years wouldnt have happened if he was one of the greatest.

Prooved excellent when he was helping save the club financially and when he didnt get along with the coach.

However he is too biased in his assessment of his best mate scott and its greatly impacted his performance. He also doesnt seem to understand geelongs history and what makes it fans proud given the direction the club has been on. Has also showed a shocking disregard for the media and entertainment side of the business. Our media department is an embarrasment on all fronts.
Ok so he did another complete review last year and found few items in which he rectified, the previous years we have some what challenged when we have had a substandard team on top we have commercial realities with the stadium which has added to the entertainment for the fans its a very fine balance, and how has he had a disregard for the media?

Without Cook this club would be stuffed, all those who question should be ashamed, the man basically saved Geelong Football Club from ruins and built it into the machine it is today. Go Cookie Monster we love you!!!

He's doing pretty damn well for an old bloke - minor Premiers after last years review so still making a contribution
Managed our Finances and Stadium Redevelopment impeccably over a long period and I dare say if he doesn't do a complete and thorough review in 2006 we may be on a 56 year Premiership drought - fair CV :thumbsu:

Been outstanding. Along with Frank turned a moribund club into a powerhouse. Came within a bees diaphragm of going to North. Still reckon had it not been for the inheritance from the other great club saviour - Alex Popescu - and how he knew the great man would have turned over in his grave had he defected, he'd have headed to the Shinboners. Give him a statue.

Please, he is a good administrator but no great than any other in the AFL. The club got Govt money because Geelong has marginal seats and each of the two parties want to win them. That is why the $s flow.
If he is going to stay then he needs to devote 100% to the club not part of his working week to us and the other to the hospital.

Russia would be stuffed if it wasnt for putins great economic reforms in the early 2000s. Doesnt mean he hasnt been a disaster since then who became corrupted by power.

We have turned into a plastic corporate organisation over the last 5 years. I feel like they treat us supporters like a walking atm. We need fresh blood and less jobs for the boys.

Why then have other clubs raided Geelong of its junior executives? They all want a slice of the Cook pie. He s an astute CEO who has been integral to Geelong’s success this century

Shite analogy. Putin is THE most corrupt politician on the planet

Shite analogy. Putin is THE most corrupt politician on the planet
How does that change the analogy? It fits perfectly with it.

He was brilliant in solving russias economic disaster of the late 90s. But was corrupt and a power hungry anti democratic war monger afterwards.

Cook was brilliant in saving us from bankruptcy and setting up the thompson era on the right path. But he didnt know how to take advantage of all the success and good will we had generated and transition us to a new era beyond thompson and sell us to the country and we have drifted back into mediocrity. There was a brief opportunity for us to become australias team and we didnt take it. He failed at media branding, and is showing signs of bias in appointments and failed to review the current coaches to solve our poor finals and post bye issues which should of happened 4 years ago. Treatment of retiring players has also been quite poor.

What would you like to see Warhorse cook and the club do for the supporters?

I'm guessing there are two primary reasons for the extension. One is related to completing the re-development. The other is to find and groom a successor. Each time he's done that - Fox and Reeves - the Hawks have pinched him.
Hocking...

I’ll start the ball rolling.

Free lunch on Friday.

Hugs from the players.

One on one briefing from the Match Committee prior to the game.

Then one on one debrief after the game.

Coaches must have their phones on during the game and must take our calls and execute our game plan changes.

Wells must do trades based on what we want.

We can fire any coaches or executive anytime that we want.

Good interview with Cook on SEN just now. Key points:

- tried everything to keep TK including approaching AFL for permission to support his family outside the salary cap (therapists for kids etc) which was denied. Cook feels this denial was ‘not in the spirit of the competition’

- mentioned opportunity to bundle up picks to get inside top 10, seems there are plans afoot

- club will sit down with Joel re 2020 captaincy, make informed decision together. Named Stewart, Blicavs and Dangerfield as possible captains

- player metrics re relationship with coaches, relationship with medical staff etc are at the highest level since Cook has been at the club. Said we need some tweaks for next year part of which was appointing Grigg as development coach

- Wells is not posturing re Jack Steven and clubs are some way apart. We will not deal an early pick for him given his baggage (my words not Cook’s) but remain hopeful it will work out

- others at the club were considering a ‘31-32’ year player as potential contingency if Steven didn’t eventuate but have been overruled... Steven or nobody if what I got in terms of recruiting an experienced player

Geelong will never become " Australia's team" like the Green bay packers is not America's team the base market is just too small. he completed another review of all aspects of the club just last year so barking up being wrong on that one as well, what Bias has he shown with his appointments again you need to back up such statements, post bye issue is quite an interesting hoodoo as its a mental ability of the players could they bring in some shrinks perhaps, CEO doesn't do list management so while we might have been a little unfair on SJ, Chapman and Kelly at the time, it was a understandable judgment call given the youth we had, dont grab at straws trying to prove your point actually give facts and facts has Scott giving numerous media calls and updates every week during the season.

Or perhaps the junior executives left because there was no future in a club that keeps its CEO for over 20 years. I am surprised that the worlds greatest Corporate Governance guru-Carter- has allowed this to happen. But then perhaps the board have little say, perhaps the board are too lazy to make changes, perhaps they are bewitched by the guff about Cook.
He hasbeen there during our success but that has only been over the five years of premierships. The rest has yielded nought. Can anyone tell us if we have been posting profits for all of those years and if any losses are due to the stadium rebuild. Because Stadium debt was what we had in 1998.

AFL still obviously peeved that Cook didn't go to the Suns when they wanted him to.

Fox and Hocking were poached to lead other organisations because of the skills they learnt under Cook fact, Cook is building the club just not on field performance in which when you look at the record since he has been with the club has been outstanding even with the tough years from 98-03, each stage of the stadium development incurs a debt to the club, the club pay off that debt then start the next stage, the club have been making profits although things will change a little when the club lose revenue from gambling, they will need to raise extra revenue to cover or cut back on non core business.
