Stats never prove it when you're arguing one player against another - but even th stats are in McLeans favour.

He is just far superior to Mitchell (and Hodge) as an athlete, a footballer, a leader and a competitor.

Brock is 20 and in the leadership group of a finals team, and will be captain as soon as Neitz hands it over. For a guy to be 20 and considered the heir apparent is amazing.

But as Brock says:

Ahhh Mitchell dominates McLean in 25 out of the 27 available stats !!!!!!!!!! In fact Mitchell's average midfield statistics are around Brocks best game of his entire friggin career.

How many times has Brock got more than 10 clearances in a game???

How many times has Brock got over 40 possessions?

And why if he is so superior did he publicly say he models his game on Mitchell???????

Just like when Ben McGlynn racked up 21 touches when he got a gig for the hawks. A few games later he got dropped! They are a high possession team and they go sideways and backwards. Because of this, when it comes to hawthorn stats count for nothing.

Mclean averages more disposals per game time anyway, so I dont know whay you would bring that up?

I didn't vote for this one, because I only rate these players just above average. Mitchell is a slow clearance specialist. He has certainly shown more than Brock, but his lack of pace is often exploted by the opposition, which nullifies his efectiveness. Brock is similar, a great little player for the Dees - a little tough-nut. Has been very consistent, and always gives 100%. His burst speed isn't great, but Brock has fantastic endurance and is a very good kick, although a bit one-sided. I guess at this stage Mitchell is slightly better, but the reverse will br true in 1-2 years. But again, just don't expect these sort of players to be that relevant over the next 4 years. I should add, that Brocks good performance, helps offset the Sylvia draft clanger to some extent.
