Broomitis attacks Connolly

Didn't swing hard enough though, I reckon Connolly should have been swept out of the club altogether.
Anyhow, hopefully he's got some 'Office Space' type role in the basement now.

Mahoney football manager... what the....!! Even more of a role if Craig doest come... what the....

He must be doing something right.. maybe we have under estimated him..

We can't get rid of everyone guys, Neeld even said that himself. Royal, Mahoney and Viney are all under contract and Neeld was happy to have them on board so they must have done something right somewhere along the way. I don't take Neeld as someone who'll go soft for the sake of it. Connolly, West, Williams and the fitness advisor have all gone so it's a good start, plus Mahoney won't be a coach so to speak, so basically the coaching department will look a LOT different to what it did before which is what we wanted.

Sounds like we are having a fair crack at getting Neil Craig on board as well so fingers crossed that happens.

Mohoney is the worst! Looks like he's going to stick around. God dammit!

Bollocks. The forwards did pretty bloody well when it got in there. It was getting it in that was the problem and the buck stops with the mids on that one.

Royal was interesting. While he is no Wellman the backs were pretty valiant considering the pressure they were under. What problems there were seemed to be a result of a flawed plan from the #1 coach - as evidenced by Viney immediately tinkering with things noticeably - so with Neeld's backline background I guess he figures Royal is up to the job as long as he is given the tools to work with.

Had to happen. Looks like they still looked after him in the process though - a fair outcome I suppose if he has something to genuinely add in the admin side of things.

wrt Mahoney I'm speechless. On 1 hand he isn't out of contract but on the other his official role is changing, I'll put my faith in the club on this one.

Me too. Given the amount of changes and sackings that have gone on of late, i don't know that they'd be keeping people who weren't up to it. You don't sack the senior coach and move the head of the FD, but keep under-performing assistants.

Connolly has been moved into a role that suits him to a tee.

Not sure why hes gettting so much hate on here.

Brian Royal now the midfield coach... really?

MELBOURNE has appointed Brian Royal as its midfield coach for 2012, with Geelong Falcons coach Aaron Greaves named as midfield assistant coach.

This was Greaves' little profile in the same article:

A highly-respected coach from the Geelong region, Greaves coached the Falcons in 2010-11.

A former VFL player with Geelong, he previously coached Leopold in the Geelong Football League.

Greaves, who has a physical education background, has also worked with Victorian Institute of Sport.

Interesting, we'll see what wholesale changes this brings in the midfield.
