Surely @ 37 for Broughton and 60 they could have shipped him out last few weeks easily. Our second round is 40 so not really much of a upgrade.

Yes he may not have brought in or fitted the new plan but he's not worth giving away plus extra's.

It cant be salary pressures given Cloke and Goddard suppossed moves if so then theres Reg's green light to have a go @ Freo. it shouldnt happen.

Absolutely pathetic trade. There better be some under the table deal to trade us Bennell or someone for pick 17.

To put it in perspective, WC received pretty much the same for Koby ****ing Stevens.
 
Faaark that! Said it before, I just don't understand how these trades are valued. Wellingham worth pick 17/18? Stevens, who has played what, ten games for pick 44 and we lose a great player like Broughts for dog biscuits and one of our late picks?? Very disappointing.

Broughton was in the best twenty two every time he was fit, I don't think he played for Subiaco ever last year.

Not a great trade but he clearly didn't buy in.

Also keep in mind we would not be using more than 3 picks so giving away pick 60 is irrelevant.

West coast got more, they got a straight out 2nd rounder. All we got was a 3rd round pick upgrade. Weird
 
It does seem odd to give away broughton for pick 37. Perhaps 37 is a pawn in something larger we want to do or its culture based. Mystified either way.

OK here are my conspiracy theories:

He was told by the club/doctor not to go on a surfing holiday after back problems and finger surgery and went anyway.
He has a back like Haslesby and will need to manage it across the rest of his career.
He refused to buy in, daily monitoring etc.

Please just give me something to get rid of this sick feeling one of my favourite players and not even an upgrade in the first round.
 
Port turned him down due to his high wage demands in his final year of his contract with Freo, surely the only reason we are letting him go so cheaply is for cap room. Something is cooking behind the scenes at Freo surely we are not this dumb.
 
Greg Walsh at Collingwood said on trade radio that once you past pick 20 this year it becomes a very thin draft. This is why Collingwood now have 3 first round picks and we still have 1.

Bondy will be saying "But we picked him up in 2009 at pick 79 and we traded him for pick 37, that's a winning trade."
 
Not sure this is comparable to other terrible trades we have made in the past in the end it's not like Broughton is going to go on and play 200 games at another club, he'd be lucky to have 5 more yrs in him and is a bit injury prone.

Still don't rate the trade tho especially if we pick up a similar kid in the draft that won't get a game for 3 years. Anyhow I'm over it bring on the draft I say.
