In thinking about it Broughts is 27 and less than 100 games. We didn't see anything lasting until pick 60, so jumped to 37. On top of all this Broughts must be a player that did not 'buy in'.

I said we would get 37 with a swap of 1st round picks, seems like we were pretty keen to offload him and didn't push for that which would have been fairer. Bond is having a poor trade period. Anyway, thanks GB and good luck.

At 37 he isnt worth giving away, great defender done well in the doigs. They had to give 60 away as well?

But really guys we were never going to get pick 13 for Broughton. We obviously don't want players and are targeting someone in the draft. Just glad he didn't go to the Saints.
 
Horrible trade for us unless there is something else at play.

The club has publicly stated that it is in a hurry, so makes no sense why you trade out a quality small defender that can also play mid for a crappy pick. We get a few injuries in one of those areas and we could be exposed.

Wow.....we got hosed here!

A contracted player who would be a top 22 at any other club, who didn't request a trade, traded with pick 60 as a package for pick 37????

Surely not. Koby Stevens went at 44 by himself and Greg Broughton is twice the player that he is.

Is there something brewing here, or haven't we learnt anything since 2001?

Think about it guys, we have a new coach and new game plan. There is always going to be fallout, Broughts obviously doesn't bring to the table what RTB requires whether that's physically (slow) or mentally (no buy in).
 
Well **** that. Wasn't expecting to open up BF and read this kind of shit this morning. Pick 37... Unbelievable. Sounds like they couldn't get him out the door quick enough. Would love to know the full story - you don't give away a top 3 B&F winner for bugger all without there being more to it.

Could the seemingly unbalanced trade be related to his contract? ie, do GC have to take responsibility for paying out the final year of his Freo contract?
 
Must be some reason for the trade and once there is one the trade is somehow forced especially so close to trade week deadline and perhaps not many clubs interested (anymore)...

No doubt you are right, but this deal means Broughton is only worth upgrading a 3rd round pick to a 2nd round pick. Should have been able to get more value.

Perhaps we have a player that we want to draft at pick 37, that wouldnt have made it to our second round pick.

If we draft a KPF at pick 37 I think we may break even. Maybe we a clearing salary cap space to sign a free agent next year.

In Bond we trust.
