That is an appalling trade for you blokes. Brings back memories of us giving up Scotland for #35.

I just cant understand why he wouldnt have been in the 20-25 range given he was easily a best 22 player. I would be livid. Obviously Lyon doesnt rate and not sure what coin he was on but wouldnt have thought prohibitive and staggered there wasnt a bigger market for him. Also not as if Freo were trying to clear salary cap space as could have just traded him end of 2013 and still had the space.

I thought Richmond had gotten the deal of the trade period but think Suns just did.

That's what I said, we upgraded our 3rd round pick by trading Broughton

You said we got a 3rd round upgrade when we got an upgrade from the 3rd round to the 2nd round.

Pick 60 was never going to be used by us, maybe we threw it in as a bit of goodwill to GC? We hope to have a long, mutually benefiting trading history with GC.

All I can think is that Bondy is trying to build a good relationship with GCS, give them a steal and in return we get a heads up on homesick sandgropers.

We've got no chance with GWS while Sheedy is involved (even despite Lyon's close friendship with Silvagni).

It makes sense under a few different scenarios, but whatever they are GCS are coming out of this with a steal.

In Bond, with no small amount of hesitation, I trust.

Perhaps we have a player that we want to draft at pick 37, that wouldnt have made it to our second round pick.

If we draft a KPF at pick 37 I think we may break even. Maybe we a clearing salary cap space to sign a free agent next year.

In Bond we trust.

Bond can eat a fat one

I can hear it now...come 2014 all the Eagles fans will be saying "...never mind the fact you lost out on McLeod or Lloyd do you remember in 2012 when you traded Broughton and pick 60 for pick 37? Haw Haw you got diddled there! "

To be honest I have never really cared what eagles supporters think.

There are probably a number of reasons why Greg is gone but maybe he wanted to leave and with GCS holding pick two in the pre season draft we just had to take what we could get.

Greg Walsh at Collingwood said on trade radio that once you past pick 20 this year it becomes a very thin draft. This is why Collingwood now have 3 first round picks and we still have 1.

Bondy will be saying "But we picked him up in 2009 at pick 79 and we traded him for pick 37, that's a winning trade."
We can't be held responsible for the Eagles and Demons stupidity.

We got him at the 152nd pick the 2008 draft. Gutted with a round 3 to round 2 upgrade.

Has bond ever had a good trade period?
This is a sentiment I definitely agree with.

Clearly, Broughton either wanted out or was no longer wanted by the club, and he wasn't going to attract much in the way of trade value given his role, age, and ability. I would have expected a mid second round pick (something like late 20s or early 30s at the very worst), but 37 is well under his value.

Bond is ordinary at list management and recruitment. This is not the sole evidence at his lack of abilities at list management, but I think in many people's minds it will be the straw that broke the camel's back.

He's contracted so PSD is no threat. Which makes it all the more mystifying.

Unbelievable. I guess we don't know the inside story. Always struck me as a consumate pro and definitely the coolest, most reliable small defender on our list. Much better than Spurr or Ibbotson.
For what is a very ordinary draft pick this seems crazy.
