Broughton is a great player for us, but he is certainly not irreplaceable. Pav, irreplaceable, Sandi irreplaceable. Elvis? Irreplaceable.
Broughton is replaceable. We need to be able to cover the loss of the named three in future years. We need draft picks or similar sized young players with talent to develop.

If Broughton leaving is able to get us closer to this goal then it is certainly worth looking at!

this isnt the only draft we will get to cover these losses you realise that right ?

theres no reason to get rid of good players why dont we worry about next year.......stuff what happens in 2/3/4 years time
 
According to Klangdon on 6Paaarrgh , Gold Coast are into Broughton now. He could join Kyal Horsely.

If another team had Broughton and we traded Ibbo to get him I would laugh at that team and tease their supporters.

Gold Coast have the picks, and broughton isn't going to hurt us there....
First round pick should be the minimum

There are not that many good talls in this draft. Stringer, Jaksch, Shaw, Plowman will all probably go top 15. We need as higher pick as possible.

The more I think about it, the more ok I am with it. We played the est footy this club has ever played without him. If we can get pick 12 or so and add shaw+stringer/menzel..... Our forwardline future would look unbelievable
 
I can't see the suns giving pick 13 for Broughton. If we want 13 it would have to be Broughton and 17 for 13 and their 2nd rounder

Although I think you're right, I'd hate to see us relinquish pick 17 as well as Broughts. He would definitely improve a GC backline that currently 'boasts' Matthew Warnock and aging Bock, Josh Toy who can't get a game and Campbell Brown who's suspended more than he plays. If the Pies can get wayyyy overs in terms of pick 18 for She-rod purely on the basis that the Wrangles wanted to improve their shizen midfield, surely we can do the same for GC's defence??

I'd rather lose Ibbotson, or Roberton, or Duffield, or Suban, or Mzungu, or Lower, Silvagni, Spurr, Clancee, or Pitt.

For mine, a pick upgrade is not value. The only trade I'd accept would be another high pick to go alongside our first rounder. But I seriously hope we keep him and that he plays 25 games in the backline for us next year.

Surprised at the general apathy about losing him but that's the goldrush fever of draft picks.
When I pick a best 22 he's the second name that goes next to McPharlin down back.
But perhaps he doesn't get on with Ross or doesn't fit the gameplan or whatever.
For mine he's our best small defender.
 
I think a lot here recognise we need to do something about our KP stocks, so someone of quality was going to have to go. Especially if you end up with picks 17 and 40. It's the reality but it doesn't mean I like it.

I'd sooner trade Jack - he's a quality 50 goal a year forward - good application and hardness at the ball. A real leader at the club. Would definitely improve the stocks up at GC
 
I'm comfortable Mason would slide to us at 17, given most teams with higher picks than us have gone hard for talls over the trade period. Gold Coast have shit picks after their newly acquired 1st rounder though. :(

Unless they feel like trading any of: O'Meara, Martin, Swallow, Bennell, Matera to us of course. :)

I would prefer to trade Jake as well, for all the sensible reasons you mentioned:)
