I finished the book last week. Absolutely fantastic read and will definitely read again at some point. Many wonderfully constructed phrases.

Thought this was a waste when I first heard about it, but the more I think about it. The more I want it. I usually tune out listening to other people read, but hearing him read his story, with his phrasing would definitely grab my attention.
This may sound terrible, but I'm really starting to struggle with the book. Loved it for a start, but then his writing style really started to irritate me, where it seems that each chapter had been written by a completely different person with a different style of writing and phrasing. I've given up on it for a week or so. Too busy now trying to learn the rest of the Nebraska album on guitar and harmonica.

I never noticed that. Well worth persisting with.

The writing is brilliant IMO.

One of Obama's last acts as President is to hand out the Presidential Medal of Freedom. Bruce was 1 of 21 individuals spread across arts, music, science, legal and community programs to receive the honour.

The whole show. As a basketball fan, and from Chicago, he gave big praise to Michael Jordan as well as Kareem Abdul-Jabbar. I've seen a few photos with some of the winners with Karrem and he just towers over them. Even Obama who is 6 foot 2.

Reckon I might have done that as well if I had the time and I was in a better frame of mind. IT probably wouldn't have felt so disjointed. I've got a couple of weeks off coming up so I'll give it a rest for now and then finish it off in one hit. I'm just over half way.

Some of it is fantastic. As I have said previously, you really do feel that some paragraphs and pages could be put to music and sung.

Some was just okay. I didn't care so much for the Elvis chapter...I get what he was trying to say, but it was a tough read.

The book gives me a new appreciation for Human Touch/Lucky Town, particularly songs like Living Proof. I didn't give those records enough time... there are some great lyrics in there, and ones that now resonate with me after having kids.
Yeah, it gives you a great perspective into his mind. And it makes you think about things differently.

On Living Proof, this got me into it. Cracking song.

Right. That's it.

Living Proof is my sign for the tour.

And there's an awesome clip from 08 or 09 where they play Living Proof for the first time since the reunion and he literally had to teach the band how to play it, on the spot. So good. Will try find it.

He should have combined both into one.

Living Proof just awesome

On annual leave at the moment, so started fhe book while overseas and loving it. Sort of regret hearing about the audio version after already buying the original as would have liked to listen to Bruce reading it.
Then got home to my second ticket artiving so I am one happy camper and roll on February.
