He’s contracted and we are losing key position coverage with JUH and Jones leaving. He’s popular at the club but they won’t trade him for a 3rd rounder based on that.

That's how it works though when contracted. If the Blues agree to a pick slide it will get done. But the Dogs shouldn’t have to accept a future 3rd while he’s contracted and we need key position coverage.

I don’t think Khamis is struggling for cash.

Khamis is a good bloke and someone we’ve been working with since he was a kid. If we tell him “look, we’re going to hold you to your contract because no club’s made us an offer that we think is worth losing you a year early for”, I have no doubt he’d take it in his stride and keep getting the job done until his contract is out. Could still leave for a third next year, but we’d have gotten one more year out of someone who’s a net positive to have on our list.
