I know everyone does it but it's getting fairly annoying at the moment on the main board when a Hawthorn support bumps a thread from 4 years ago to prove that someone was 'wrong' about their club being a rabble, as they were a rabble at the time so the thread is in context to the time frame it was written in.

I think it's an exception on bay 13 and I don't have any problem with it if the thread was a year old but really, it's getting a bit silly.

Also, I know this isn't a Hawthorn specific problem as it will happen whenever some new team wins the premiership.

Cheers.

i enjoy readin old threads especially with massive predictions gone wrong

Or massive predictions gone right. The thread that was bumped today saying that in three years time Richmond supporters would be calling Tambling a dud was gold.

If you have a particular problem with a thread being bumped, please report it.

Some of the bumps are a good laugh and a bit of fun for all, others are totally irrelevant or used for attacking certain posters.

So essentially it depends on what context the bump was made in and what path the following posts take as to whether the thread will be locked or left open.

Oh look, I know some of them can be quite funny but those aren't the ones I'm talking about. Just think what'll happen if Carlton win the flag in 3 years time, there'll be bumping of threads from when they claimed their 3 spoons and there will be people all over the shop trying to rub it in everyone else's face, when the reality is that they were terrible.

Bumping people's predictions and the like is something I don't see a problem with but bumping old threads from when a club actually was a rabble but recently won a premiership is a bit pathetic really. I guess I'm just talking about the main board specifically, whereas in Bay 13 for instance, not really a problem.

There was a thread on the Collingwood board that was brought back from March 2001 advertising the Pies Family Day of that year...I fail to see what point that would serve being brought back...

The only time I find it annoying is when I don't realise its a bumped thread. I'm reading through it and all of a sudden something will make me suspicious and I'll check the date to find it was three years ago.

It would be good if there was some way to automatically (by this I mean something the system did - different colour hyperlink or something) identify a thread that was older than a year, for example, as a bumped thread when somebody bumps it.. if that makes sense. Then you decide before going into the thread as to whether you're really interested in reading about something that was said when Jesus played full back for Jerusalem or not.

Surely it couldn't be that hard to script?

On post reply, check last post date, if greater than 1 year, hyperlink = green.. or whatever.
