Butch looked menacing all day as the Maggie's main target. If it weren't for some poor i50 delivery he could have well bagged 10! That. Being said, he constantly presented all day and his defensive chasing and tackling was back to its best as exemplified by bringing down a Westies player who was given a sheppard off the mark which resulted in a HTB and goal

Sorry Scorchy, you know I like Butcher and all, but two games where he did nothing in the first half and then scored 5 junk time goals on either side of a 3 possession performance against WWT does not qualify Butch to be mentioned in the same sentence as Newton. Newton is in obscene form right now.

Butch will get another shot, hopefully soon, but he's not 'bashing down the door'.

Today's play by the Maggies favoured the FF. Harvey played there in the first half Butch in the second, at least as I saw it. Butch worked well. So did Harvey, but that's for another thread.

i am a huge fan but i'd still like to see butcher take more marks or at least produce more of his goals from them. 5 marks today is a touch below par. probably wouldn't put him back into the AFL team just yet

Newton is at the stage now where we could flog the cats by 10 goals and we'd still have to find room for him next week.

I'm believe Butch was ill during the WWT game as was rumoured. The drop-Butcher campaigners basically argued a platform of "He doesn't hit the scoreboard, a KPF has to hit the scoreboard to keep his spot". Well he's hitting the scoreboard. That argument is no longer a reason for frustrated supporters who have been spoiled with Tredrea and Schulz to decide he'll never make it.

If he plays SANFL all season he'll go close to the Ken Farmer.

He'll be right , he's got one of those long torsos like Westhoff , it takes longer to build those bodies up to where they hold their ground in marking contests , once he gets that strength to go with his good ground play he' ll be right

Good to see him get a few but. Listening on the radio(hence can't be sure about his first half) he only had 1 kick up to half time. He needs to have a good four quarter game before coming back up. We are talking about west Adelaide who haven't won a game yet in the sanfl.

first 1/4 was Junk.
2 1/4 was meh. Moved further up the ground (down back) and kept the ball forward with some good spoils.
2nd half was great
Missed 2 easy goals. And passed to Heath when he should of gone back and taken a shot.
Should've had 8.

Way off topic, but I really rated Garry Moss. He played some very good games for Hawthorn in 2009, but just completely fell off the radar there. Clever and courageous little footballer.
