The same Daniel Stewart that took 4 contested marks and kicked 4 goals against Richmond in a near bog effort.

The same Daniel Stewart that took 3 contested marks and kicked 3 goals againsy Sydney in a premiership year. Sydney!

Just about every player has these highlights. I cant think of a player in recent times that weve let go who has bitten us
Stewart managed 12 more games than Butcher despite weaker stats and less AFL level influence IMO.

And after being frozen out of that great Port Adelaide side of 2012 - who could forget Simon Phillips' stellar 6-disposal performance against Fremantle after being worst on ground for Norwood the previous week? - Banner found himself at South Fremantle in 2013 where his statline reads,

532 disposals @ 26.6pg
123 marks @ 6.15pg
33 goals @ 1.65pg

Now do you take a chance on a mature-aged 23/24yo who couldn't even get into the Port side that was beaten by GWS!!111111? Probably not.

By all means cite your Adam MacDougalls, Lewis Johnstons and Nick Gills, but Mitch Banner is the ultimate example of a career we well and truly snuffed out.
WAFL stats lol Kane "Sandover" Mitchell says Hai guys

Not even a comparison. The difference between Butch and Schulz/Tredrea is that the latter could actually kick.

Schulz's first 7 games in Port colours, before he broke out with a bag of 7 against North at the Dome

9.5dpg, 4.28mpg, 8 goals/7 behinds

Lucky Tredrea went down and we persisted with him, hey.

8 goals/7 behinds

I rated Banner, back in the day. If it means anything at all he was probably one of our best during the combined losses of 303 points in just 2 games of footy in 2011. And he was certainly worthy of playing AFL in 2012 :(

But...would have definitely been better if we took Rory Sloane instead.
Banner cut his hair and that was the end of the story

Nephew was playing afl live last night when I went over for a few beers watching footy, got distracted at about half time and started playing the game coaching port to a premiership.

Schulzy went down after the Hawks game with a sore head, brought in butch to FF, kicked 1 goal 3 and was injured. Lol.

Gets better, schulz re-injured his head in round 17. Gave butch an extended run at it and he won the norm smith kicking 3.3. Moral of the story.... I good at games.

If only the game was on steam.
Wonder if the stats behind Butcher in the game is Set shot accuracy 0.5/10

The very WAFL stats that have seen 23-25yo Kane "Sandover" Mitchell play 29 out of a possible 61 AFL games in two and a half years without ever producing the AFL stats that 21yo Banner did in the back-end of 2011.

unless there was something behind scenes i didn't know, banner delisting was the dumbest thing at the time.

There were rumours floating around here that he was refusing to listen to instruction/wasn't tackling enough/something something at the Magpies.

Which would be all well and good if the same squalid regime hadn't managed to have a similar falling out with Kane Cornes and Danyle Pearce to the point where they were dropped to Glenelg and Sturt respectively.

All we ask is that Butcher gets backed in like spud Jenkins. Jenkins wouldn't get more than 2 games under Ken with his tall forward selection policy.

That's worked out well Jenkins is garbage

He's not very good, but he was the difference in the crows - Carlton game.

When was the last time Moore was the difference? Sam Gray? Young? Mitchell? Stewart?

Playing a tall forward is better than any of those options. We have more to learn by playing Butcher than any of them. We have more to gain than we do to lose.

Harvey will have his time. Whilst Butch is still on the list, I would rather him played. At the very least, we know he has the better physical shape for AFL and won't be having another Redden round 2.
Butcher doesn't even look like a footballer at present until he does there is no chance
