That's interesting.

Our previous coach was fantastic at picking the opposition apart, but didn't have the cattle or the wherewithal to be able stamp our game style on a match.

Now we have a coach who may have the cattle, but is so intent on implementing his own game plan that he ignores the opposition strengths.

**** me, if you didn't laugh, you'd cry.

1. So what do the Assistants do? Do they just tow the party line? Nod? Chew gum? I made the post earlier today...who is a critical friend /mentor at North?

2. I have thought that our abysmal start of seasons were because our coaching staff took until the middle of the year to figure out opposition teams. Not sure anymore.

With the football club.

Who?

There would be a few hundred people that work there.

Who are the top 6 most accountable for where we are right now?

Has he lost the group and they have tuned out or are they being asked to play a style of footy they aren't capable of?

Scott rightly takes the brunt as head coach, but no one should be escaping blame here. They players are equally as culpable.

I think the players are playing the style of footy Brad wants but because of the side selected opposition sides can can counteract it all to easy.

If we finish outside the top 4 then a review of the football department needs to be carried out at the end of the year.

If we miss the finals altogether we must make changes, it's as simple as that.

Q: How far is it to Rotterdam?
A: White mice are more common than brown ones.

This sort of logic would not be out of place in the last few posts. Deary me.
3 mice!

I mean miles!!

Can i still get weed there??

Joe, Tom, George, Matilda, Julie and Clare. Sack them all!!
In fairness we really shouldn't.

They all deserve at least a 7th year to get things right.

Laidley had the knowledge and not the cattle - like Scott currently has.

They both took average teams into a prelim.

Laidley achieved everything he could with the talent at his disposal.

Scott this year especially hasn't been able to maximise the talent at his disposal. That could possibly change but it's going to take a massive turnaround.

Scott was given the OK to rebuild the list as he saw fit, he got brilliant new facilities, a bulked up football dept, access to free agents and he now has us going backwards after 5.5 years.

Laidley was told we couldn't bottom out, was coaching a club that was threatening to move to Qld, had the leagues worst facilities, had a club at loggerheads and he still achieved exactly the same as Scott has achieved.

Wild Bills dreams of the days when teams in the early 1900s didn't have coaches. It worked for those sides then. :stern look

You jest but he'd have loved some of the post-match all-ins of that era. Especially after a loss.

Tom Wills didn't get the nickname "Two-Way Tommy" for his ability to transition from defence to attack.

Wow - So Laidley is now a genius coach and a martyr.

I should bump some old Laidley threads. He got even less love than Scott.
