Back on topic - Roo thanks for all the memories. You will never be replaced.

I hope the club renames the Team Man award after him, as he optimises the ultimate team man.

He did acknowledge the crowd with a wave when the announcer said to say farewell to him. But like many of us he was shattered.

Any of my dealings with him and from others that I know that have dealed with him in the shed and other functions in adelaide have nothing but good things to say.

What point are you trying to raise?

Read my post again If Roo had not of played against Brisbane in Rnd 21, meaning he would have never played another game at AAMI, you dont think there would have been an uproar in Adelaide, because he owed it to the AFC members and supporters????

WTF are you on about?

People would have been upset, but not because Roo 'owes' it to us. Roo doesnt owe us anything. Hes given us everything he could over his career. Your strange belief that Roo owes the members and supporters some sort of debt is staggering.

I reckon you owe it to the posters of this board to not post in this thread anymore. :p

Thats not the impression I got when it was being discussed a few weeks ago.

He will play. If he can run, he will play! If he gets held off this game I would be mighty pissed off!

I really hope he plays, would be awesome to see the great man for the final time live. Will be quite disappointed if he doesn't.

Jeez people, you couldn't have seriously bought that line from Craig's press conference?!

He is playing silly buggers. If Roo can run, he will play. Craig would never leave him out of the side or send him through SANFL. Roo MUST play regardless of whether or not finals are on the agenda. That will most likely be his last game at Football Park and I, as a member and team sponsor would feel extremely disrespected and cheated if Roo is not picked this week (provided he is healthy).

Roo deserves to be sent off by the fans in the most respectable manner and we are members, supporters and fans deserve a chance to do so to the greatest player this club has ever had the pleasure of having. Possibly the greatest we will ever have.

So quit playing these politically correct games or these ducks and drakes, if Roo is not injured, he MUST play. Result really doesn't mean a hell of a lot for me. Win, lose or draw, I want Roo there if he is willing!

Blah blah blah!!!

I am so glad you are not in any way shape or form running our club otherwise we would lose a lot of respect and integrity in the process. How the hell can you say what you just did. And this leave your emotion out of it is PURE and utter crap. Sport IS an emotional game. If it wasn't you wouldn't be gutted after a loss or pumped up after a big win. Removing the emotion is impossible and should never happen. Once you lose that, you lose the pure meaning of what sport is all about.

Roo is a champion, always has been and always will be and if my club started treating its best player ever the way you are suggesting then I sure as hell wouldn't want ANYTHING to do with that club. Its about having respect, class and love for your players.

I don't give a shit about being tough on an up and comer. I am sure someone like Douglas would be disappointed to miss out but he would also be pretty peeved off if Roo isn't selected if he sees him putting his hand up for selection on the training track.

Craig can talk about diligence and all that crap all he likes but he is very aware that if he doesn't pick Roo this week (assuming he can run) he would lose a LOT of fans. As much as most of us love Craig, he is smart enough to realise that if it comes between Roo or Craig, its not contest what so ever.

The fans would like to make the finals no doubt but I am sure majority of the true fans would take a chance to give their champion a proper send off over making up the numbers in finals any day of the week and twice on sunday! Sometimes there are things FAR FAR more important than 4 points and this IS one of those things.

Roo is a champion and he has ALWAYS come up big in big games. Its what solidifies his label of a champion. Cream rises to the top and Roo has always done so. Showdowns, finals, his 300th, round 1 of 2006 after no PS, Heritage round this year....... The list goes on and you would snub the greatest player this club has ever had and likely will ever have for a pissy 4 points and token spot in the finals?! I am sorry but to me that is a great show of disrespect to the very heart and soul of this football club. The face of the AFC and someone who will be a LEGEND in the AFL hall of fame. The very foundation of this club. Many great players have come and gone and we all remember them but none of them have had as big impact on this club as Roo. He has created the culture, he has created the spirit and has shown us what leadership in the adversity is all about.

For people to even suggest that Roo shouldn't be selected is quite frankly a huge insult to the great man and to every supporter who has showed up to every game, rain, hail or shine to see the great man lead us by example.

If Roo doesn't play, then the AFC hierarchy have lost a LOT of my respect.

[/rant]

Thankyou to all supporters from other teams to compliment Roo on how much of a leader and a great player he was. THANKYOU.
I cried,
Roo is my Role Model.
He is such a great player and I wish we got further (mayby into the Grand Final) which would of been a fantastic way to say Bye.
Roo good luck.
Such a good player :D

It might not be the impression you got, that may have alot to do with your comprehension skills.

Alot of people felt the club owed it to Roo and the fans to play him if he was fit. Thats a very very different situation to fans feeling that Roo owes it to them to play, even if not up to it.

Geez, there is a lot of crap on this thread.

When it comes down to it, it was the wrong decision to play Roo on the weekend and the coaching staff and Roo himself have to take responsiblity for that.

Nevertheless it doesn't detract from the fact that he is a legend of the game and that he deserves to be remembered for his sensational efforts over the duration of his marvellous career.

Marty, give it a god damn rest FFS! So Roo was practically inconsolable, and didn't want to be chaired off, didn't want a fuss. Big deal... says more about the man and his humbleness than needing the 7 week Sheedy, Hird love fest we were all subjected to with flashing lights and fire works. Perhaps just perhaps fanfare isn't what he is about. He owes you nothing, he did the very best he could, and is, was and always will be a champion.

Everytime i encounted Roo, at training at a after match function which has been several before and after kids, he was very approachable we have numerous signatures and photos of the great man with my child, win loss or whatever.

This is about you and your narcissistic tendencies and has to be made about you. I'm about the club.... pffffffffft

You cannot be serious, No actually I think you do believe your own crap.

Roo didnt owe us a last game, the Club owed him a chance to say goodbye, not the other way around. I agree with ST, the fact that you see this so differently is staggering to me, as anyone with a hint of common sense would see it for what it is.

Us:"Itchy and Scratchy have given you thousands of hours of entertainment for Free!"

Marty:"As a loyal viewer of the Show I feel they owe me?"

Read this again Maccas. You obviously didnt get it the first time.

Not one of those comments references Roo owing any of us anything. If you're going to quote irrelevant posts, we could be here for a while.
