Don't take the bait mate.

Your appointed to do this job - as long as your comfortable with the result then thats all that counts.

Sure, listen to expected critics about certain players but don't go down the path of restructuring how it is done just because they think someone else can do a better job or the process is wrong.

Its not the AFL for crying out loud

Any poster that thinks the selector needs to see every game, every team etc etc are w*nking themselves

I'm on Scribe's side fool. I think he's done a fine job and i think selecting a team (right or wrong) is always good fun and brings some healthy debate. I was just adding that not too much should be read into it (as most have already agreed) due to the fact that he doesn't actually watch any games. He's pretty much just gone on the umpires votes which is a very risky option. God knows those C grade umpires aren't the sharpest tools in the shed.
And scribe, i don't know what sort of panel would/could be chosen but if they were i doubt they would ask to be compensated. Two meetings, one at half way and one at the end, wouldn't be too much time to give up for those passionate enough. However, selecting who should go on this panel is a completely different story. I've got no idea and i think until every C grade ammo game is televised there will never be an appriopriate person, or people, to select this side.
Still good fun to do though and well done to the blokes that made. It sure gives him some bragging rights.

P.S. I saw Dukes on 3 occasions and thought he was average at best. On what i saw he shouldn't have made the side. He's a shadow (not literally) of what he was in his VFL days.

Jase,
We're all in need of a good laugh. Could you please post your All-Australian side that you predicted before the announcement on Monday night. Also, perhaps you could give us you C grade Team Of The Year.....?

You would needing a good laugh after the gutless display at Sandy on the weekend.Hope your not #13 some great kickouts.Back to back stuff ups right wack for your mob.

Scribe - the coaches could all vote for the team of the year, and coaches are not allowed to vote for players in their own team. Eg: Number 10 from Ajax was easily the best CHB in the comp this season. Martinov and Rochford kicked 1 goal between them all year on him.

Question - what was the approximate crowd at the Granny? Anything like the 06 Granny that saw over 5000 pack Sandy?

3,000 i heard somewhere.. couldnt be sure

rkn another couple of hundred might've shown up it wasnt as windy

The coaches voting would be an alright procedure. In 2 games you get a pretty good idea on who can play. Especially in this standard of comp where the better players are the better players nearly every week. Players with the most votes for would get the nod.

I don't think the wind would have kept anyone away. It was still a great day with the sun beaming. Much better ground than EP that's for sure! Atmosphere galore.

They would do a fine job.
But considering every game is televised and these "experts" can watch and review most games it's probably a little bit difference to the C grade Team Of They Year.
Perhaps the assistant coaches should do it Uncle Mick.....

Ha. Well played. However, I was of the belief that coaches gave 5,4,3,2,1 after each game. i.e Bomber Thompson & Brett Ratten would give 5,4,3,2,1 to players from either side in the Carlton v Geelong fixture.
Hard enough for us to give our own players 5,4,3,2,1 after a game let alone look out for who the oppositions better players were. Good healthy debate though.

We've discovered the secret to success in the league B&F.....Shake the umpries hand before or after the game. The Top 5 or something were all captains (Fletcher was captain for about 9 games when Bucks was injured and when he wasn't he shook the umpires hand before and after the game just to suck up). Fair crock of sh!t when the bloke who won the B&F for the team that finished on top doesn't poll a single vote in the comp. I can't understand that. Devereaux (#26) won Hampton's B&F by an absolute mile. He got about 110 votes and the next best was around 70. Makes you wonder what the umpires really look for....
