He should either commit, or leave I feel. Don't get stuck in between.

If he's serious about playing for the club then he'd sign.

If he's had another offer elsewhere and is considering then imo, that shows a lack of commitment to the club.

If he's getting a 3 year deal as reported then he should take it and go.

If the club was no longer commited to Cam and wanted to part ways, why wasn't he annouced along with the other players that where delisted and how come he is on the first list lodgement. So based on that, Cam has said he wants out and the club is trying to change his mind, cam is undecided on his future or the rumour is crap.

If it was as unworkable as you describe then why would the club/cam want to drag it out? Wouldn't Cam want something offical in order to fully gage not only ports interest but if anyone else is interested. Doesn't seem like smart buisness from cam not to declare himself availiable or the club to drag it out. It may a case of cam using port to get a longer contract. Most of the posters on the port board can't see it happening, because they haven't heard whispers from there club and they only have 3 spots left and 3 top 20 picks so you would assume someone else has to go to make room. Despite this and nothing offical it is getting treated as gospel here.

I actually think we should look to retain Cloke (for depth). Hoping he can bring his VFL form into the seniors. You could have a lot worse blokes on a list as a depth player.

Id also like to see Setanta played at CHF (and left there). Hes getting some very sticky dukes old Setanta.

Why are Carlton supporters so desperate to pick up any tall with a reputation?

Drafting has beens is what we did under Parkin, Pagan and Brittain.

We need to develop our own KPP instead of picking up list cloggers like Saddington, Ackland and Martyn.

A short term solution which is at long odds of paying off is a cop out when we do have young KPP on our list.

If Maguire wasn't finished as a good KPF, the Saints who aren't flush with KPD, would have kept him on their list.

Cloke kicked five goals in the VFL GF, yet supporters want to chase Maguire as a forward and defender.

Where's the logic in that?

The season Maguire where played well is eons ago in football terms.

Who would begrudge him if Port had offered 3 years when we are offering a one year extension and he is on the fringes of a strengthening list? You're not a turncoat to go looking in that situation as it is not just a bit of extra money he is seeking but a heap of security.

Spalding was a trade. Clape and Pearce I will give you. Manton, not sure that he was delisted but wasn't high up the Bombers list. Hogg and Rice had been good players. We may have traded for Hogg but Rice was on the outer because he was always injured at the Saints.

I get your point though. We did reinvent players and improve their games to win a flag.

Bingo ..it's just the same as any other job for them...in fact you will find the supporters have stronger feelings for the club than most players.

There seemed to be two choices with Fev. Blame him or blame the club for trading him.

Fev is gone because of Fev. Not because he lacks ability but was all heart, but because he had too much ego to consider rules applied to him. Considering the numerous incidents Fev was involved in and what unfolded that night, I don't think people talking about the damage he does to the club is such a terrible thing.

If anybody questioned Fev's footballing ability, they would be laughed off the forum. As far as his attitude and his actions though, there's nothing that has been said her that hasn't said everywhere else, including the media. When some were basically saying 'keep Fev and everyone at the club who wants to trade him should go', it is only natural that the counter argument is going to focus on Fev's negatives.

I don't mind anybody saying that Cloke was too slow, not strong enough, anything football related. Just saying he is a hack and for the door not to hit in the arse on the way out ... well that's not discussion, it's not constructive. I'd imagine we will hear the same things about Wiggins when he goes and that will be inappropriate as well.

Respect towards our footballers should be based on heart, endeavour and attitude, not purely on the heights they rise to due to natural talent and the highlights reels they make.

For mine, I feel Cloke should of knuckled down, trained his ring off, demanded the full forward position as his own - then, throughout season 2010 shown that he deserves a three year contract from the Carlton footy club. However, in a weak as piss display, he looks like walking out chasing a contract, which, in my eyes, he is not worthy of. Yet.

I've openly been a big supporter of Cameron Cloke here on BF (there are several posts regarding my support) and really hoped he would of had a positive impact. But, just when he finally gets a chance to show us what his capable of, he pulls the pin.

This Cloke bloke is proving to be a bit of a sook and a daddies boy, and for that I say, "Watch the door doesn't whack you on the arse on the way out"

I think you've got a pretty skewed view of things.
We have had a position available for a KPF for the entire time Cam has been at the club, and for whatever reason he has not made that position his own. Going forward it would seem likely that he will remain a fringe player. In the eyes of many he was fortunate to survive the chop this year, and on exposed form most would agree that he is not part of the clubs long term plans.

In other words he would be mental not to consider any deal offered to him, especially a relatively long term one. Would you not consider changing jobs if you were offered a role with far greater financial security?

I would not be jumping to conclusions about why Cloke is dealing with Port. My mail is that the club has played a significant role in teeing up the dialogue between the 2 parties - i.e. we want him off the list AND we want another club to pick up the last year of his contract

Look, he has a one year contract on one hand and a potential offer for a 3 year contract on the other hand. He has always been a fringe player and with us, his shelf life could be 1 season, and by then the 3 year contract might disappear. Port might have made an offer, not Cloke chasing it, and that seems the most likely. It seems he would have gone already if it was his idea. He probably wants security that we can not offer him as he hasn't shown us enough to deserve more from us.

I say good on him if he can secure his future. He has been on thin ice virtually year to year thus far in his career. The club will show him no loyalty if he gets injured in 2010 or is his form doesn't pick up. Why not go where you have 3 years to cement another contract?
