Ok, so I know it was a VFL game, and I know we got beat, but god damn Cameron Wood looked good today.

I obviously do not know the stats, but I'd say he had at least 20 hitouts, 5-7 marks including 2-3 contested, 1 goal, 1 behind and at least 15 disposals.

He started slowly, but he still contested well in the ruck in the first half, but it was the second half where he got going.

Despite losing the second half, Wood dominated while in the ruck, went firstly into defense to stop Bendigos' onslaught, and then at the end of the 3rd quarter went forward and had 2 shots at goal (kicked 1.1).

Basically, he is ready for inclusion in the seniors, after only 1 1/2 games at VFL level, which is probably ahead of even the coaching staffs expectations.

Whether he plays next week in the seniors is still debatable, but although we lost today, I was happy, knowing we now have 2 quality ruckman at the Collingwood Football Club.

The question now has to be asked, can Wood and Fraser play in the same team? (Jolly plays if fit no matter what).

It's time to get honest with ourselves: Wood needs to come in to the team, and Fraiser needs to go out. Whether or not he's "better" isn't the case. Wood is our future, and would probably contribute more to the team than Fraiser has over the past few weeks. He's going well in the VFL.

I havn't been the biggest Wood fan to be honest, but seriously, come back soon Wood, we need you!

If Fraser doesn't have the best game of his life tommorrow, and I'm serious here, Wood needs to come in. He's a good ruck and at least provides something around ground. I havn't been impressed with him in the past, but if he's fit and ready to go, get him in!

Malthouse will not drop Fraser. If he does, I will eat my freaking foot.

He's dropped O'Bree, Brown and Lockyer in successive weeks. Something that I certainly didn't expect. Maybe Josh is next. On his output, he has to be on thin ice.

Based on what Malthouse said mid-week, Fraser still has a few weeks to prove himself.

Won't be dropped for another 3-4 weeks I'd think.

If Fraser plays another poor game I think Wood would be mighty stiff not to come into the seniors at Frasers expense.

Was at the VFL game yesterday and my God he looks a truck load better than Josh! Kicking, tap work and his ground level game all look better than Josh's.
Please Mick make it happen soon.

He sure Did and Fraser needs to pull his Finger out to do something at AFL Level

Get him in,fraser is done love him he has tried his guts out for us in a position he was not 100% suited to....

Wood is the future and if he does not start getting games gc or gws will snap him up,he came to us to get more games so dont think he would think twice about another move...

Normally I would agree ... but geez if Josh plays like he did on last Anzac day it won't be good for him. If Cheesy and Tarks have been dropped then Josh has gotta be sweating with Wood playing well.... MM just has to admit that. I watched the Hawks game again last night and Josh's form certainly isn't AFL standard no matter if he is a favourite or not.

I really want Josh to play well ... I think him up forward is a good move and him roaming around is a bonus too. Taps around the boundary is fine but no centre bounces for me. But it'll be interesting to see Josh Vs Paddy ... coz MM will do it

Wood already looks as though he's ready to play at a level above what Josh is putting out right now. However I'd expect MM to give Josh a little longer to find his niche.

The encouraging thing, if you choose to look at it that way, is that MM has now publicly acknowledged that Fraser is not currently playing at the level that the club and the coaching staff expect of him. He will have to improve for the selection committee to be able to justify picking him each week, and it's no longer just us saying that.

I think there is no coincidence though that both Jolly and Fraser play their best games of the season the day after Cameron Wood announces with a good VFL performance that he is ready.

Wood placed pressure on Fraser and Jolly to perform, pressure that didn't exist in the first 4 games, and both responded well today.

Obviously the question now comes; Can the 3 play in the same side?

My answer, at the moment, NO, down the track, maybe.

Spot On the 2 Rucks played better because there Spot in the Seniors where Threatened by Wood and they Responded.

I think all 3 can play as Jolly and Woods as the Rucks and Fraser as the 3rd Tall up Forward

My issue with Wood is his lack of ability to play another position, Fraser has been poor but he has the ability to play forward and do well like he did against The Dons.
Jolly is another who can move forward and kick goals but at the Swans he also moved into the back line when it was needed
If push comes to shove play all three, mainly using Fraser up forward and swapping with Cloke when he needs to have a rest.

Well Wood can play a Tall Forward and Tall Back and Take Saving Marks in Defense and Go Forward and Take Marks.

lol, talk about a stretch. He can not play tall back. He can possibly sit in the hole in front of big forwards but that's about it. He can pinch hit up forward too but also, that's it. He is a ruckman.

Well at 204cm he can't do a Heap more then Play Ruck.

Well if you listen to Darcey last week we might as well get rid of Wood then if that is the case:rolleyes:

Darcy's an idiot.
Wood is our third ruckman at the moment and we all know it. It's a good situation to have - he just needs to keep bringing the professionalism and knocking down the door - given Fraser's injury history he'll get a call up soon enough.
