Can Hawthorn succeed while ignoring the elite end of the draft? - Part 2

The better side won tonight. Doesn’t change Hawthorn’s inconsistency over the past few years which is a telltale sign that the ship has sailed. The reckoning is postponed, not cancelled.

Since Round 15 last year, haven’t Hawthorn beaten all the top 6 sides?

Is that the same Clarkson that has won 4 premierships in the last 12 years? Surely that is pretty good ahead of the rest of the league!
Yes the same one. But as has been raised in this thread those flags were won from his top end draft talent as the core of that success.

Top 4 again. What a surprise
Lol come on dude, so are North, Port and Essendon and 16 other sides have only played 2 games.

But maybe I'm missing the facetious nature of this post.

Hawks have started the season pretty well though, but there's a long way to go to see who the top teams will be in this weird season.

Troubling signs for Tigers last night you could see it on Hardwick’s face. A look of having no answers. Maybe teams have worked them out. Nank could be Tigers CHB next week 😄.

But as has been raised in this thread top end draft picks is a bit like playing tattslotto and it hasn’t helped plenty of other sides over the years. If Hawks drafting strategy and list management produces performances like it did last night, consistently moving forward .... I am happy with that. Also very happy with Albert Clarkson‘s philosophy on football and theory of relativity.

Geelong 'aren't that good', Hawks were just poor: Alastair Clarkson

Listen to Clarko, the respected elder statesman of the game. Gil listens to him. We all do
Clarko takes all credit in a game like last night, but never personally takes responsibility for a loss. Geelong will win the premiership this year.

Clarko’s comment relating to Geelong not really being that good ..... taken out of context.

Clarko respects the GFC. During his coaching career probably the most. He meant they are not a 61pt better side than the Hawks and that the thrashing had a lot to do with how poor the Hawks were. He’s spot on and at least he calls things as he sees it.

Huh? Saying the other team "weren't that good" to dish out a 10 goal thrashing is to suggest it was his own team that were terrible. That IS taking responsibility. It was his way of saying last week was our fault.

You mean the guy who was smashed as being arrogant and crazy with his list management, overrated, and having everyone (even me) criticizing the team he went in with?

He copped it all last week, stop inventing stuff just because you hate the guy.

A 10 goal win is a 10 goal once all is said and done though. ;)
