Lloyd was right. Hawthorn will keep winning games like tonight but ultimately just end up a middle of the road side going nowhere fast.

Beating Richmond seems good as they are the reigning premier but they were horrible.
Did Clarkson mention that or only use that excuse for his side getting smacked last week?

It wuz da umpies #freekickpoosnwees

Last night was a coaching masterclass by Clarko.
All the talk about fielding one of the oldest teams and he made it work.
McEvoy down back looked like a genius move and Smith exposed Richmonds outside run

Not wanting to get sucked into a two part thread. But, from my understanding the title is misleading?

scully - pick 1
Patton - pick 1
JOM - pick 1 of mini draft
Wingard - pick 6
Scrimshaw - pick 7
McEvoy - pick 9
Frawley - pick 12
Mitchell - F/S pick 21 would have gone a lot lot higher in his draft year If not for f/s rules.

That’s 8 of their 22 that come from the top end of the draft.

they just traded in rather than picked as kids.

Stop talking sense... that has no place in this thread

So by my count that's 6 original top-10 picks vs the top-10 picks Hawthorn have "earned" in the same period:

2017 - #7

and.... well that's the only one.

If the Hawks win a flag in the next three or four years I will bow down and kiss Clarko's feet and beg for forgiveness.

In your posts you're constantly asserting that, unless the Hawks win a flag, the recruitment strategy has been proven to be poor. Is that right?

Why don't we hold every team that tries to rebuild through the draft accountable to the same measures? If it fails, why isn't that chalked up as a point against the merits of drafting your talent?

If you look through history, for the life of the league while most or all of the talent has been drafted in, there are plenty more failures on the part of drafting to win premierships than there is in trading to win them.

Except Hawthorn

I actually believe this too. Sickening success at Hawthorn and my choice of team entitles me to more success
