Got banned from our page last season...the truth finally hurt too much...they thought I was Cats supporter, because of how much i praised Danger and Selwood and how negative I was towards our ageing list...funny how things work out.. Danger and Selwood would currently be two of our top 3 players and our ageing list is looking more cooked than ever...

hahaha.. there are some on there that think Ben Stratton was a good choice as captain and we can challenge for the flag over the next two seasons...they should be banned for thinking and saying those things...at the end of this season, there is a good chance ben stratton will not only go down as our worst ever captain, theres a chance he will go down as the AFL's worst ever captain.

I actually think the choice of Stratton was a rush job.

Tom Mitchell was going to be captain in my opinion but then he broke his leg.

Would not be surprised if he is captain at the start of next year. (Just letting him find his feet again this year)

Liam Shiels, Isaac smith, Jack Gunston, Ben McEvoy, Tom Mitchell and Jaeger Omera ALL would be better options...after last season even stevie wonder could have told you ben stratton as captain was failure... the ridiculous pinching episode, the consistently falling over and getting beaten by his opponent...the lack of leadership on the field..imagine having your team captain as a player that isn't even in your best 22...sometimes in life when you realise you have made a mistake you need to admit it and make a change..

He isn't injured..he had shoulder surgery in off-season and hurt his ankle in pre-season but was up for selection...the issue is our team is already too tall, so he misses out..Lewis deserves to play in front of Patton but Patton needs to play games to get his confidence back..the issue with Patton is he is basically redundant once the ball hits the ground..our midfield is awful so he won't exactly be getting good delivery..another couple of weeks like last night and Patton will be dropped for Lewis...

Tim O'brien was excellent the back half of last season and looks to have cemented his spot in the side. We can only play 2 of Patton, O'Brien and Lewis. The worst part about it all is Lewis is one of only a few young players on our list that has shown he will be a decent player in the future and he can't currently get a game. Clarko needs to change things and fast.

Yeah I remember when a half volley came into Patton last night and I realised he was never his gonna have enough left in his body to take it cleanly. Sure enough, he barely got his hands down for it and was never a chance.

Mental stuff. Whoever made the decision to clean house by ****ing Hodge and Mitchell off without a replacement should be fired from the club.
Even worse is the fact that Clarkson agreed to it.

This is the path Clarkson has chosen.

Crazy Clarko has pretty much succeeded Crazy Vossy in the art of destroying a list. Desperately clinging to the last remaining threads of a successful era by filling the side with older, top-up talent. We all saw the path Brisbane followed after that 2009 trade period...

Hawthorn's talent pool in the 18-23 age bracket is just god awful compared to most clubs.

My response to that is how do you find replacements for 2 champions when your last top 10 pick came in 2006? Understand that we traded a pick 7 (Hunter Clark) for Omeara and pick 9 (Andrew Moore) for Burgoyne in that time, but they are a win or undecided in the Jaeger trade. But yes, I am on the Bradkli train in that a complete rebuild is needed. No more Ceglar, Poppy, Stratton. No point finishing 9th and getting pick 13 again. Unfortunately I think Clarkson has been talking too much to Greg Popovich and thinks he can rebuild by plugging holes (much easier with 5 on a court where 1 star makes a huge difference)

I was surprised to be honest that the odds were so close last night. Most of the players hadn’t ever stepped foot onto that ground.

Not just that but you look at the Hawthorn list as a whole and they are severely lacking top end talent.

The older players are past it (Breust, Stratton, Smith, McEvoy, Sheils etc.).

They have 3 quality players in Mitchell, Sicily and Worpel and then a heap of average sort of C graders now.


This is their current list of players aged under 26 that are good players or have shown potential:

Sicily, Impey, Worpel.


That’s it.

Severe lack of talent coming through under 26 and a list comprised of way too many older players at the end of their careers.

Players 28 or over on their list:

Gunston, Sheils, McEvoy, Henderson, Smith, Breust, Puopolo, Burgoyne, Scully, Frawley, Stratton, Ceglar.

Not injured..should have played..we already have frost and Frawley down back who can’t kick and ben Stratton doesn’t touch the ball..scrimshaw is an elite user..

Ceglar needs to be dropped. McEvoy sole ruck and scrimshaw to backline.

Impey will come back soon and replace Morrison, who is hopeless.

Small forwards an absolute disaster as well. Puopolo is cooked and Hanrahan is not up to it and never will be. Former saint Darren minchington will come in next week. Not replacing Cyril a killer. Wingard has to play more midfield because our midfield Is so poor.

Rhys Stanley was close to BOG while a guy who has beaten him regularly over recent years - Ben McEvoy - was loping around the backline where our two tall forwards were goalless and Ablett, Miers, Dahlhaus and Atkins combined for 9 goals.

Why on earth is Clarkson persisting with this move?
