Those clubs certainly have shown the blueprint in how to go about a rebuild.

We have 4 flags in recent memory to keep us going while Clarko sets up the next run.

I wouldnt want it to take more than 5 or 6 years tho. Ive become accustomed to Hawthorn winning.

Because there is a common belief that if you dont hit the draft like they did, then cant get flags.

I would say that if anything, its definitive proof that hitting the draft is a bad idea.

Drafting isn't an exact science.

It is not an exact science. Nobody has said it is, including myself so not applicable to what I posted. The idea is to have numerous picks when you need to re-build your youth base or indeed build from ground zero. I keep saying that because it should be obvious but it is not to some....

I am glad we woke up to that four years ago but Hawks club not in as bad situation as my club at end of 2015, right now. You only needed to re-build in recent drafts not start almost from scratch but if they ignore having picks in early rounds of drafts any longer your list will have lots of holes to fix deep into next decade. A lot of damage done by having no early picks in three drafts in a row. The repercussions of those mistakes in list management strategy will be felt for some time.

I did indeed. You would have had pick 7 of 2017 draft if you had not traded your future 1st rounder of 2017 away in 2016 draft period in pursuit of getting O'Meara. It is one of the 7 picks you would have had that got traded away in the frenzy to get O'Meara in 2016 trade period.
This is not rocket science to work out. But happy to help those unable to work it out themselves.
Those genuinely interested in how to trace it back, can show how but the info exist to work it out yourself.

Us Hawk fans have heard all this type of garbage before. Even during our 3 peat Hodge was only a player that collected cheap possessions from half back, junior boy over rated only gets 15 possessions a game, Michell a slow plodder blah blah blah. Don’t mind at all, let the Blues, Footscray, Bombers have all the elite players while the Hawks have a bunch of B graders that deliver premierships.

Really enjoy listening to the great man over the last few weeks. His comments are consistent and he is confident that his plan and the transition from the 3 peat is coming together and it will give us another genuine chance of silverware in the next 2-3 years. Much rather listen to him than all these BF buffoons.

Agree those were drafted a bit older than most, plus Rioli was a pork chop.

Why was Isaac Smith drafted at 20/21? Doesn't have any modern day red flags like being short or slow or a s**t kick.

He was passed over and was a VFL reject for a couple of years. Played for Ballarat from memory
