Players coming back from broken legs often do not have the best of form when they first come back.
If we were going to make a grand final he would be getting limited time in the VFL right now. Bad injury yes but hes well on his way to getting it 100%

I personally think that their most crucial decision is whether they go down the keep topping up with free agents and big trades or being prepared to bring draft picks through the system and give them the time that they need.
I personailly think that they need to do the latter but suspect that they (meaning clarko) will try and do the former. There is some huge concerns about their list at the moment (as there is meant to be due to equalization as a result of their success).

Just not sure they can patch their way out of it to be genuine chances in the near future.

Financial pressures might be a factor, with the considerable cost of developing Dingley. Kennett spoke against their financially-unfriendly fixture during the year.

Committing to the draft means at least three years out of contention. Maybe they simply can't afford it?

Older guys were the issue tonight not the youth.

Worpel and Lewis outstanding. Chad was very good as well, hopefully will play 70-30 midfield for the majority of his time as a Hawk.
You guys will be come a glorified North Melbourne. Brought in enough talent in free agency to remain out of bottom 4. Not nearly enough to be competitive in finals. Just treading above water like North have done so for the last few years. Coniglio would have to have rocks in his head if he thinks playing for Hawthorn is guaranteed success.

Midfield with Mitchell Jaeger Cogs worpel wingard.. don't be jealous.

And gee all this advice of how poor our future is from posters supporting teams who’s immediate past is similarly bleak

Who’s got the most mis placed hope

What’s a Western Bulldogs supporter with a midfield of Bont, Macrae, Dunkley, Hunter, Libba, Wallis, Smith and Lipinski have to be jealous about?

And last time I checked Cogs was still contracted to GWS. Why would he want to go Hawthorn over a Carlton who are on the verge of contending again. With one of the best young lists in the game?

You know ... Clarko ... maybe ...

Losing to North doesn't extinguish the fact that they beat Geelong - Hawthorn due to its star midfield will at worst be a middling side until they find a key forward target or two - their coaching team isn't brain dead and neither is the Club's list management - they can see what lies ahead.

Wheres the relief from soft taxes propping up all your teams? Kennett is saying the systems farked

They are going 50:50 trades and draftees. Same as 2009-2012. Its not either/or. But you know that

So why not finals?
We have no KPD and are playing a 20 year old in the ruck and a 19 year old at chf who hasnt played before. Look at our stats we monster everyone's mids every week. We weren't converting our dominance and missing easy shots. We would be 1 or 2 in the league for mids

Interesting.

“Using archival data on draft-day trades, player performance and compensation, we compare the market value of draft picks with the surplus value to teams provided by the drafted players. We find that top draft picks are overvalued in a manner that is inconsistent with rational expectations and efficient markets and consistent with psychological research.”

A little more googling reveals a few articles where they discuss their findings.
Thanks for taking the time to read the article Carl. The really interesting part is, despite body evidence, none of the NFL manager took the evidence on board. I.e. they continued the practice of trying to accumulate early picks. For more on the subject, you can listen to the podcast This American Life 2016 edition. Titled: The Wrong Decision.

On the verge. Like Melbourne you mean?

We won a flag in 16...

Our list is better than yours. Put a poll up on the main page between hawks and the dogs hell even carlton and see who neutrals would choose going forward. Guarantee it wouldn't be the hawks. You arent the same team without the past champions of the club
