The Neeld academy.
Clark in the leadership group is a profound statement.
My theory of Neeld taking control of this group and diluting the influence our previous senior group has had grows legs.
Green, Davey, Moloney, Rivers have been sent a clear signal. If you want to be relevant then make a statement on the footy field.
Have to admit I'm genuinely surprised Moloney missed out but there you have it folks.

Bartram in the leadership group whilst Moloney isn't... i cant understand this. I personally had Bartram as delisting material for 2012. Ah well, have to trust the club, we cant see what goes on behind closed doors.
I am warming to the idea of co-captains. I just really really hope Grimes can stay fit... i will have no shame cheering whilst those two march the players out onto the G.

Really pleased with this; a little disappointed for Beamer as he tried his heart out all season and bleeds red and blue... but I think it was the right decision.

Maloney and Rivers were 2 big omissions from the leadership group who didn't seem to do a lot wrong. Big fall from grace for Green. I hope they continue in the right frame of mind and don't take it personally. Davey had to go from the group after last season. Good luck to all

I don't mind it. Like others surprised about Moloney. A very poor reflection on our senior players, but we already knew as much I guess. Also I agree captain jack must post here, visionary.

Pretty happy about this decision, for mine both players have shown maturity and have always been touted as future leaders of the club
As others have previously stated it's a shame to see Green, Moloney and Davey demoted but hopefully it has a positive outcome and they can just focus on just playing good football without added pressure. Pretty stoked also to see Clark in the leadership group! goes to show we are proud as punch to land him and are backing him to be a major contributor on the field

Thank God there's no Green. It will take a miracle to get Davey back in the leadership team. If he ever does so, it will be because he has turned around his career.

After the woeful leadership on display in 2011, this announcement is a refreshing salve. Giggling 'answers' to reporters, team-draining body language, putting your hand up to play firing on 1 cylinder and getting completely smashed till 3am before training, shirking contests and throwing 2yr old tantrums, 186 ...
.. and that left Grimes and Trengove.

In the case of Rivers, Moloney, Daley & Green, I am hoping that Neeld took them aside and said something along the lines of...
"Leadership in general at this club has not been good enough over the last few years, despite your best efforts. We need to start developing young leaders and give some guys (i.e. barty, garland) greater responsibility and accountability for their actions. You guys will automatically be leaders through your experience and your actions. If I can put these guys in the leadership group, in theory half of our team are leaders at all times. You don't need the title; you can lead by example."
If Moloney had been retained, and the other three dropped, I would have just assumed that the playing group didn't vote them in. Surely the playing group would have wanted Beamer in there - they all admire him.
I think that Joel Mc, Straussy and JB would be a little worried that Barty is guaranteed to be in the top 22 now..

I'm baffled why some of you guys have been saying it's a shame that green was dropped. stuff him! I may sound harsh, but he's just not up to it.
The thing with green is it's all about him, gimme the ball gimme the ball and then he stuffs it up with terrible delivery, and a poor attitude, and if he's not given the ball - he sooks like Jack Reiwoldt.
I'm pumped that he's been demoted. not only has he lost the captaincy, he's not even in the Leadership group! A clear sign he needs to get his shit together if he wants to maintain his position in the team.
The only negative is beamer not being atleast in the leadership group - but he's a Gun and will lead by example.
