3. Hayes

Re: Round 6 Captains

cornes looks very nice, i always seem to be put off putting him captain though?
hayes would be a certainty but his recent scores aren't that great, just quietly if i had ablett he would be my captain, he has a high average over 5 games which i assume stretches back 2-3 years ago when he wasnt an established gun yet

Re: Round 6 Captains

Great stats Jolldo!

I'm looking at upgrading Dyson to Kornes this week, but try not to make a new draftee my Captain in their first week... That always seems to put the mozz on 'em!

Chad's figures look very promising. Last week, I thankfully changed Capt from Cross to Cornes in the last half hour before lockout, and will probably give him the Captain's armband again this week. Apart from the occasional aberration, he's always a solid choice for skipper! :thumbsu:

Re: Round 6 Captains

Jonothan Brown's poor score was 5-6 years ago. Luckily for the Dees, he has only played them 3 times over his career.

Im looking at getting back on track this week, therefore I will take the risk and make him captain.

Wow. That's very brave, with him coming off a 29 and a 34 just two weeks earlier. Could pay off big-time.... but surely you have less "riskier" choices for captain?? How would you cope, score wise and personally, if he pulls out another sub 50???

Good luck! I admire your Kahunas!! :thumbsu:

I think hes the "big score pick of the week". Demons are struggling big time, and with Brisbane's superior midfield, the delivery to him should be good.

Form is an issue. Then again he scored 100+ only a week ago.

Re: Round 6 Captains

Can't go past Cornes imo.
Past performances are great, but you should also consider recent form as equally important.

Great historical form + Great recent form = Cornes captain

The only others I'd consider is a geelong mid - one of Bartel, Ablett and Corey will break 120 for sure.

Re: Round 6 Captains

I was excited at the start of the year having 5+ captaincy options every week, but Pavlich and Brown just look too risky, Cox doesn't have the best form against this weeks opponents, and Cornes is in slightly better form than Cross.

Captains armband awarded to - C.Cornes

Agree wholeheartedly.
I know it can be a good idea sometimes to take a bit of a risk - but this week there is THE option, right there, staring you in the face. C. Cornes has the history and the form. He is a guy who when he plays he demands the ball from his teammates and is the obvious choice this week I think.

Unless as, you said you have one of the Geelong big 3.

Re: Round 6 Captains

why has cox not scored so well against the bullies? against hudson and minson at the dome, surely he's good for it?
For me the question mark is over his health. I need to know that he's back to 100% before I hand over the captaincy.

Re: Round 6 Captains

I'm going with Lenny Hayes, even though I have Cornes, Cox, Cross etc. Just feel that with his great form this season and some of his past performances against PA, he won't let me down.

But saying that, neither would Cornes.

Re: Round 6 Captains

I still believe Cox is going to murder the bulldogs. Before he had the little injury the midfielders were passing the ball to him to use. with a good score last week he will be back to his best this week and i am looking at him getting easily past the 100 mark.
I also hate putting players captain who are playing st kilda for a similar reason to sydney. You just dont know with us how we will play. They could put blake on chornes to tag like he does with goodes as i dono what else he is gonna do. kornes is also fairly risky as he could be tagging hayes very heavily this week and be reliant on tackles (same with hayes). also showers are forecasts for adelaide tmorow.

for me stanton and bartel and then ablett close behind are the ways to go. Last week at the match id never seen someone being tagged work so hard to get the ball as i did with stanton. This is the same with essendon who work very hard to get the ball to him as he is their best user. Clear blue sky today, does well against collingwood, will kick a goal and take lots of marks.
This also goes for bartel.

Ablett will score at least 90 as well but bartel is more consistent.

so imo:

1. bartel
2. stanton
3. ablett
4. cox
5. chornes/kornes matter of opinion

(but you cant go wrong with any of em really)

IMO dont go the Cornes brothers. I have both and not going either.
Why?
Expected rain, and you know Port cant play in the rain.
The opposition will have possession 24/7.

Im going between Corey, Ablett or Shaw...
Dont know who though.

Have Ablett as captain and Corey as Vise ATM

Cornes is one of the best players in the league in the wet, it won't effect him at all.

Kornes tags nearly every week. When he tags someone who's around the ball alot (i.e. Hayes, Kerr last week etc) he scores big. His tagging is only a worry when he tags someone like McLeod, Johncock etc who plays a kick behind play, because he isn't able to rack up all his stats on the counter attack.
I doubt he'd take Fisher or Goddard, so it's likely he'll take Dal Santo or Hayes, in which case he should score highly. Rain isn't an issue for his scoring in the past, I doubt it will be this week.
I'm tossing between Kornes & Cornes, atm leaning towards Kornes...

Same here, J.Brown for me

He's had a shocking season to date, and what other time would he want to turn it around then against Melbourne.

Re: Round 6 Captains

Can anyone confirm the rain forecast for the Port vs St.Kilda game

Tossing up between
1. The Chad
2. J.Brown
3. B.Stanton

All obvious choices imo, for anyone who thinks it's a risk to put J.Brown as captain i laugh at you. Playing arguably the worst team in the past decade, have had by far the most amount of goals kicked on them this year, and have no-one who can possibly match it with the likes of Brown. Yes his past three weeks haven't been flash, but in all things considered he is still by far, with a doubt a premium. Could be looking at 130+ from Brown.

Re: Round 6 Captains

It's a risk because Bradshaw has been taking some (alot) of Brown's possessions. They were Brown conscious last year but this year they've got 2 targets and Brown's struggling because of it

Nice point JWood. KCornes tend to tag the same players (barring injury) so in doing this for the last 2 seasons he has averaged 107 and 105, clearly the 2nd best DTr in the comp. The low scores tend to be against the same teams because they are against the same players. 5 of his poor games last year were against Adelaide, Brisbane and the Dogs tagging Black, McLeod and Gilbee.

St Kilda's midfield is basically unchanged so it would be fair to assume if Cornes gets the same role his score will be similar to last year (123).

Kane usauly has very high TOG. has a big tank and runs all day getting tackles while tagging and still gets a lot of marks and kicks.

I do understand where you're coming from with Bradshaw, but i'm talking specifically about this game. Bradshaw is obviously taking alot of Brown's supply but this week i don't think it is going to be that much of a worry. Surely teams will start realising the dominance of Bradshaw, and won't be paying ALL of there attention on Brown...i hope.
