Every year is massive. Clubs tend to have around a third of their list coming out of contract each year.......and with a majority on two year deals now, its up to half your list out of contract each season.

Massive job. Icke is the man.

Take solice in this thought.
Who was the last good player to leave Carlton and have a sustained impact?
We don't let good ones go.:thumbsu:;)

Laurence Angwin....

Laurence Angwin....

Huh?
Did nothing at AFL level and had no impact when he left .............Hamill was the only one I could think of that comes close, and I think we got better service from him than the Saints did............but I really can't think of any recently at least (last 20 years) that fit that bill.

Campo...M. Allen....???

Nah just kidding.

Exactly. We have let plenty go or traded them:
Allen, Campo, Murphey, Nelson, Porter........Massie is the only one that has had some degree of success, but he isn't, and wasn't an elite talent.

We don't let them go. Fev and Murph is a matter of crunching the numbers, and they can all see what is coming on the horizon.;)

As if any player at carlton would be wanting to leave now. I mean especially the ones who went through that losing streak.

From what I have seen this year, the one thing that really stands out to me is how close the boys are.

All the kids are around the same age, and they love Juddy and Fev.

Apart from fev booting 50 so far this year, the main thing that has really impressed me other than his chasing and tackling as well, was his commitment to the young blokes, they really seem to look after him.

This group will not leave each other, they can see we are going forward and the club should move heaven and earth to keep these boys together

Possibly Peter McConville.

Good on them boys!
really neeed Fev nd especially Murph ta put pen to paper!

Murphy and Fevola are the 2 big ones Emmz.
Fevola looks pretty close, and I reckon Murphy won't be that far behind him. Why anyone would want to leave a club that looks like it will have a pretty bright future would seem pretty bizzare to me.

I do have alot of confidence in our off-field people to get the job done.

Possibly Peter McConville.

There was a player who got the best out of the slightly above average talent that he possessed. He could take a 'speccy' & also was an amazing one-grab, contested mark. Kicking could be a bit iffy at times, though. He was an integral member of the '79, '81 & '82 premiership sides, but he had plateaued by the time he moved on to St Kilda. He still gave good value to the Saints, though.

What about Spiro Kourkemelis then, or Alex Marcou or Bomba, even got Bomba to coach for them and dont forget the greatest of them all in Jezza, lol... should of changed their name from St.Kilda to centrelink or carlton retirement village.

Think the issue was who went across and still gave value. I can't recall myself but think Jezza took a good mark but only played about 20 odd games.

sign the young guns for long contracts (4 or 5 years) like murphy, jamison, gibbs, kreuzer, walker, waite, players we want to lock into the club, stop them leaving or signing expencive contracts for a while. Only the required (gun players).

Might be a good idea...
