Same. It is a sticking point with me for the board vision of our club future. We got to aim and plan to get out of there or will be looking in a change at board level at some point in future.
Liddle has to keep one eye on the financial side of things & with the AFL now controlling Marvel Stadium, the financial returns for our club are going to be much greater in the short term from the current mix. One wonders how much money we lose playing non-Victorian clubs at the MCG when the attendance is less than 30k (as it generally will be until we become more competitive on the field).

Know I'm in the minority - but I don't mind Etihad/Marvel (except for our record there). I bring the fam into the games from the country and it's a hell of a lot easier to get to. Also feel that with the roof closed (which it should be for every game in winter), it's a good ground for spectators.

I hate it because our seats are in front of one of the entrances and the wind just blows straight in. ******* freezing.

Charlie Curnow the best player under 22 in the afl according to everyone. That’s back to back teams. Turns 22 in February. So gets another crack next year but that’s it. Lucky for bont he turns 23 in November.

I expect Dow, O’Brien, McKay, Fisher and Walsh to be all a chance in 2019

There is no growth as a club playing there. Virtually no one likes it. I suspect thousands have already stopped going as they hate the joint. I have not but if anything comes close to turning me off attending it is arriving there and feeling totally Darklands venue with no soul. We need a board with a big vision what we are doing about home games next decade. Whilst we stuck there for life of this contract it is what it is but by mid 2020's if we have not got a plan in place I for one will not be supporting current board staying in power. Club is a bit tied now and rightly need to focus on our on field build but couple of years time when that is happening I expect our club leaders to talk about long term vision of where our HOME is long term.

I wonder how some of these supporters would have coped in the days when we had to play games at the Western Oval, Moorabbin, Victoria Park, Windy Hill, Arden St, the Junction Oval.

I'm sensing a bit of an entitlement mentality if some are refusing to go to the footy based on where it is played. Clearly not passionate, but more theatre goers.

Bit different as those are away grounds in those examples you bring up. Home games played at a place like Darklands is just depressing for many that felt the club had a home not to long ago. It is no home that is for sure. Some of ones that stopped going would not be theatre goers. They would have been rusted on originally but without a home now I can understand some have let it all go and given up their love of footy.

I loved away games at different grounds. Shame it all went. All those grounds I went to once. Really treasure the one time I saw Fitzroy v Carlton at Junction Oval.

Was Super, what a player. What a shit coach he was later...lol.
For some reason I remember Micky Conlan and Doug Barwick peppering the goals in game I attended. Not sure what year it was maybe 1982 to 1984 some time. Was a litter tacker. Only got to goto that ground once. Special place. Shame it went. Not so misty eyed about Victoria Park or Windy Hill....lol

I saw Mark Robinsons review of Carlton in HS this morning. Quickly read it whilst waiting for my coffee. Said we need a Key Position defender and a small forward. No mids? Only off limits trades are Cripps Dow Fisher & Charlie?

Really was pathetic. Does he really get paid to write this crap. Would have taken 5 minutes and has no research in it at all. Embarrassing

Poor bloke is probably still struggling with his bank, phone & internet after giving all of his details out to scammers the other day.

He probably had to write that article on a bunch of used coasters at his local (on his standing tab) with no access to the internet or phone. To be honest I'm impressed he mentioned more players than just Cripps & Charlie....

Slobbo would have to be the laughing stock of the highest order.

Please don't be so quick to judge Soapy, was it written in crayon, it's the only real way of knowing whether he had a ghost writer or not.

You got the bar set too high for him Soaps. He has got to make a living. He might not be good at it, but least he is trying and not selling drugs on the street to make some income.

In fairness to Robbo it was Chris Cavanagh who wrote all of that.

Robbo just added some waffle at the end.
