Juddy selling the message

Juddys impressive as is Liddle. Message from club is strong and consistent. Great to see and hear. Just more examples of how the club is going and how strong the culture and belief is these days. It’s why I’m so confident in where we are going. As a club we have got it together. Taken 20 years but it’s great

Any highlights HBF?

Club happy with kids we've drafted.

Club is aware that injuries have compounded the mid-rebuild, inexperienced list profile.

Confident we're on the right track, and asking for a priority pick feels like an admission that we're not confident in our plan.

Was pushed by Watson about whether that was the right move. Should club do everything in its power to improve list? Understood position but said club doesn't share it. Repeated: we're confident in our plan.

Bolton and Liddle on employee agreements, not fixed term contracts. No expiry date, protections in place for club and employee. All parties comfortable with this setup.

Pushed again by Watson - when could termination be enacted? Didn't have a bar of it, said it's a confidential matter like other workplaces. All parties comfortable with current arrangement.

Asked about Friday nights - should Carlton have so many given our current form? Big supporter base, exciting young players, our consistency will improve and we feel that we'll be a club that will deliver exciting Friday night footy. Not out decision, but we'll take the games that the AFL offered.

Asked about free agents/big fish. Said SOS planned to hit three drafts hard, has done that. Now we need to balance bringing in kids as well as players 24-26yo.

Asked if big contracts to Cripps, Curnow etc. would restrict us in that space. Said our young list profile meant we'd have room for experienced players and we'd start to target some of those.

Asked why we haven't signed Cripps and Curnow to long extensions yet. Confident that talks are progressing and should see something in that space in the near future. Tried not to get drawn into speculation on contract length, but agreed that their current form would make something in the vicinity of 5 years appropriate.

"Yes, we are doing whatever it takes and are looking into a supplement program Tim, do you know any good ones?"

"FFS Timmy, you are like a dog with a bone on this one, which bit don't you understand, do I need to draw it in crayon for you? How is this different to any of the current coaches contracts who can be terminated or extended at any time?"

Liddle is an excellent media performer.

He answers the questions clearly and stays on message.

The interviews I have heard with him, the journos have tried to trap him in niggly or hypothetical questions. He simply refuses to bite and instead reframes it the way he wants to answer. And legitimately actually addressing the underlying issue and not the point-scoring the journos are after.

Bravo!

Also, as has been alluded to by others, Juddy is doing a great job as an unofficial club spokesperson.

His contributions are done under his media guise (with an acknowledged club bias) but in reality he is in cahoots with the club.

It's all perfectly choreographed and he's the perfect antidote to the Whateley/Robbo/Hutchy shit-stirrers.
