Can't stand seeing "Carlton can win the flag" stuff from Lyon and co, like they've deliberately jinxed us.

Not going to win any flag when we can't put teams like St Kilda down who were in horrible form. Don't care what their ins are, or if it's a "must-win game" from them... we have such a lethal forward line but couldn't capitalise in perfect conditions.
I would argue we had much more to play for also. Disappointing to say the least.

I don’t believe the jinx part but I don’t like it when they jump on the bandwagon when we are obviously playing well consistently. It’s a no brainer comment to say that a team high up on the ladder can win it.

Realistically a performance in round 16 will likely have little to no bearing on whether or not we can win the flag. Are you putting a line through Melbourne who lost to Fremantle, Sydney and Collingwood?

Of course we're not likely to go all the way but our best is incredible and will challenge any team. If we can get our best team on the park come September we'll be dangerous.

Here's the thing though - the ladder is so tight right now that the game we're referring to here might mean the difference between a top four spot or not... or even a finals place entirely. Melbourne's not really in that position. We're fighting for a spot with several different teams, we can ill-afford to drop games due to how the draw's being played out right now. We've got some very tough games coming up, which includes Brisbane at the Gabba and Melbourne back to back. It is very likely we'll drop either one or both of those games, so games we should actually win (St Kilda) are all the more important.

I just have a nagging feeling that this game will bite us back on the arse. Happy to be wrong, of course.

Mammoth article on Lewis Young; coming to Carlton, fitting in, coming out of his shell, increased on-field confidence and career-best form.

Re being an introvert

It's something I've been working on since I was drafted. I came in as a very quiet kid, and I am still quite a quiet personality.... if you can come out of your shell a bit, you actually play better yourself. You just feel more confident

Re receiving and giving advice to teammates

That's been a massive piece of advice from (senior coach) Michael Voss and (backline coach) Aaron Hamill, they've taught me that and that's what is coming out in my game I believe

Amazing what happens when you play guys in their best position...

In his last four games, Young has amassed 55 spoils (ranked No.1 in the AFL) and 35 intercept possessions (ranked No.5).

I'm sure the bulldogs are ecstatic with Youngs progress :)

Good trade, basically a swap for sps

Young was at the Bulldogs for five years. They had plenty of time for him to progress...

Was really starved of opportunity at the Dogs, especially given they are bereft of quality KPP not called Naughton.

A real head scratcher why he didn't get real game time, which just further highlights how clever his recruitment by the blues was.

Post 2415 supports this.....

Yeah same thing happened to Bruce Doull. When he came out of his shell he started to play better. :D

Jack silvagni on the couch just now. Fine ambassador of the club. His parents should be very proud. Can’t wait to see him collect the first medallion on the podium one day very soon.

You don realise jinxing isn't a real ****ing thing? By media saying we can win the flag doesn't make us lose games, by people saying hopefully we don't get an injury and then next minute we lose a quality player isn't the person who said it's fault.
We only need to peak in September and I believe this is possible. Who gives a duck if we drop a game to the saints? Can't win them all.

This was the moment it started..

See how the Hawthorn player was running away from a charging Bruce Doull? He would have been thinking to himself, “This can’t end well. He’s way too placid in general.”
