Blues want to sign Judd for life

I saw a line across the bottom of the morning show on ch7 saying that Carlton want to sign Judd for life.
Not sure if it's true or what it means, but I'm all for it if true. Great player, good leader, never does anything wrong & would be helping the club with sponsorship dollars.
Let me know if anyone has heard anything & what your thoughts are?

Judd positive about Blues' AFL pre-season
http://news.smh.com.au/breaking-news-sport/judd-positive-about-blues-afl-preseason-20120321-1vjj0.html

For Blues skipper Chris Judd, the fitness and form of Matthew Kreuzer and Jarrad Waite comfortably outweigh any Carlton AFL pre-season negatives.
Having missed long stretches of last season, including the Blues' finals campaign, the club's star ruckman and key-position swingman loom as trump cards in their bid for this year's premiership.

"If you look at who didn't finish the year for us last year, blokes like Jarrad Waite and Kreuzer are a couple that really spring to mind," Judd said.
"They're like new recruits, but instead of being 18, they're mature-aged players, they've played with the club over a number of years.
"They're going to be exciting for us."

Love Judds referance to Kreuzer as a pair of new roller skates :thumbsu:

A Chris to build a dream on …
Judd believes Kreuzer's best spot is in the ruck, a position that obviously involves an abundance of physical clashes.

''Once the ball goes to ground, his follow-up work is as good as anyone in the competition,'' Judd said, speaking at the launch of a new tipping competition, Million Point Challenge. ''That's what probably sets him apart. He really gets a lot more opportunities to do that when he is playing on the ball than he does when he is up forward. He is as hard as nails.''

Top four or bust for Blues: Jason Phelan for AFL.com.au
Top four or bust?

Ratten's assertion that the Blues must finish inside the top four after finishing fifth last season makes sense, but lofty goals made before the season starts have a history of back-firing. The coach has backed his players in and now it's up to them to show the mental strength required to deliver on the field as he knows they can.

Best 22

B: Chris Yarran, Michael Jamison, Jeremy Laidler
HB: Nick Duigan, Lachie Henderson, Andrew Carrazzo
C: Kade Simpson, Bryce Gibbs, Kane Lucas
HF: Andrew Walker, Jarrad Waite, Mitch Robinson
F: Eddie Betts, Shaun Hampson, Jeff Garlett
Foll: Matthew Kreuzer, Chris Judd, Marc Murphy
I/C: Heath Scotland, Ed Curnow, Rob Warnock
Sub: Zach Tuohy
Top four or bust for Blues: Jason Phelan for AFL.com.au

God forbid anyone wants to aim high publicly for fear of it backfiring.

Phelan at least has an idea about our best 22. Interesting to see an outsider put Lucas in the side at the expense of Ellard, McLean and Armfield, and interesting to see he has all 3 ruckmen in the side.

Huh, Shaw reckons if Warnock doesn't come up early, then we will have to play Waite back. Either Shaw is an idiot and thinks Warnock somehow frees Waite to stay forward, or he is confusing Jamison with Warnock, despite others on the panel specifically referring to Jamison, and is still an idiot.

He may have confused Warnock with his brother.... Warnock. :D

You were right the first time, and the second time.

80% of this board's users would know more about our list than they do, pointless to listen to their opinions at this stage of the season unless they interview someone from the club.

100% correct.

He should stick to running into trees.

Definitely an idiot and confusing Robbie with his brother and then confusing Matthew with Jammo. .. I think that the only possible connection between Robbie and Waite would be to actually release Waite to float because Hampson or even Rowe/Casbah could be used as permanant forwards with Kreuze rotating with Nocka. ..

Ratten tips Bryce Gibbs to take AFL by storm

CARLTON coach Brett Ratten says Bryce Gibbs is ready to take the AFL by storm.
And Ratten has revealed he feels no more or less pressure this season now his coaching future has been secured with a two-year contract extension.

Ratten said Gibbs, the 2006 No.1 draft pick and third in the best-and-fairest in 2009 and last season, was ready to take the next step.
"He's a player with great skill and he's had a very good pre-season," he said.
"His ability to play multiple positions might go under the radar of people out there.
