Yep, but then he quickly followed up with the thought that all top six could easily go number one.
Pretty sure the others in his top 6 were lukosius, rankine, b King and blackey.

You dad is way better than you Ben!about time someone actually spoke to the young man himself.........
Ben Silvagni has a chip on his shoulder
“I’ll probably walk in with a chip on my shoulder and show what I’m capable of,” Silvagni told The Age.
“I probably hear that sledge every week, every time I play, [that] it’s just my dad who’s got me to where I am.
“I just let it motivate me.”

And everytime you hear someone from South Australia speak both Rankine and Lukosius are talked up as the two best players in the draft. Pre knee M King would've been close to favourite for number 1 with JL.I have heard many say that Max King is a clear #1, even when Lukosious was all the rage, plenty were saying the King boy is better.

Interesting to see someone put their balls on the line re Pick 1 trade talk.
Pick 2 and 6 is insane If Suns oblige.
Get the feeling we'd trade 2 and JL to Crows in that scenario then take 3 first rounders. Smith, King and Hately maybe.
Interesting few weeks ahead.
He loves that goatfirst listened to that song when i was like 8, i certainly got a suprise
so what's the 4 day thing harker mentioned?
Max King measuring in at 204cm.
If he grows another 2-3cm and maintains his speed and agility, he'll be unstoppable.
Weird assumption to make...
Why would that make him unlikable? Got vegan friends, teetotallers, one family friend who only eats red meat - none of them are unlikable people because of their lifestyle choices. He may not build all the same connections as other teammates with similar interests, but I wouldn't be expecting him to be on the outer.
Flip it round - maybe he has a positive impact on whichever club he joins. Some of the other young players see how hard he pushes himself and it motivates them to do that little bit more than they already are.
Seems an enthusiastic kid with a huge drive to succeed, and a genuine enjoyment for improving himself.
Happy to take him if we see an opportunity to trade down. Happy to take Walsh otherwise.
no sense of either of our co-skippers behaving supercilious towards others solely because they train like spartans.....I think someone who is that dedicated to the cause would then expect or look down on others that are not.. IMO the best results are achieved by having a good balance and footy needs to be fun, if he is looking negatively against any of the boys who are going out and doing what normal young lads do then it will create a toxic us against them culture, similar to how Buckley and Nick Maxwell wanted everything straight laced but then Dane Swan & the rest of the rat pack revolted against it and thought if they were getting 35 touches each week it doesnt matter if they are getting home from 161 at 8am on Sunday morning. Trent Cotchin was similar to how I imagine Smith is, and he has publicly said it took years for him to accept that others didnt have the same commitment as him and that it was beneficial for himself to unwind and enjoy a bottle of wine every now and then.

Article talks about Carlton's needs for midfielders and a key position defender.
Just more breadcrumbs scattered to suggest we may take a combo of Smith & B. King
With the Phantom draft just about finished, here are a couple of kids that I would consider rookie listing, depending the make up of the rest of our main list
Luke Moore - 180cm & 84kg
Very smart small forward that uses the ball extremely well
Moore was only recalled when teammate Thomas Baldwin pulled out due to a thigh injury. The South Fremantle product has been likened to Collingwood cult figure Alan Didak and did his draft prospects no harm on the big stage. Moore hit the post with his first set shot but stood up in a tackle and used his footy smarts to set up the opening goal of the game to Brad Oldfield. Minutes later, he gathered a ground ball and snapped his first major. Finished with two goals from 13 disposals.

Matthew McGuiness - 192cm & 75 kg
Believe he has grown slightly and see him being a Finlayson type. Will need time to develop, but like the way he plays the game

Bloody tough to pick rookie prospects prior to the national draft.....here are some guys that I don't think are good enough to get drafted but I also think are reasonable chances to make it at AFL level.
Not having a go at you/others, just recognising it takes a special skill to identify flawed talent that others are likely to overlook but shouldn't.
If I had a hat, it would be doffed right now.

Are you suggesting that over his opponents, he will tower, Eiffel?
