You should pick Lukakuis or Rankine .Walsh will be at the Murphy, Gibbs level whilst Lukakis could be the next Riewoldt or Josh Kennedy. Rankine could be like Gary Ablett senior.Another option would be to trade pick 1 ,for pick 3 and pick 22.The draft calculator says thats about right https://www.draftguru.com.au/pick-value-calculator#3,22| .Then you are guaranteed a gun and another long term player.
I love how you have 2 attempts at Jack Lukosius' name and you butchered it twice. Especially since your username is Socrates

Twas the night before Draftmas, when all through BF
Not a creature was stirring, not even a thylacine
The guernseys were hung in the change rooms with care
In hope that St SOS soon would be there
The BF posters were nestled all snug in their bed
When out on the concourse of Marvel Stadium there arose such a clatter
I sprang from the bed to see what was the matter
Away to the window I flew like a flash
When. what to my wondering eyes should appear
But a Hyundai Santa Fe (just coincidence this)
With a driver with bandy legs, so lively & quick
I knew in a moment it must be St SOS
And he whistled & shouted & called them by name
Now Brodie, now Agresta, now Harris & Jordan
On Bleach, on Potter, on Lloyd & Bolts
To the recruiting table they rushed
St SOS went to his work
Filled all those guernseys with Walsh & BSOS & Cavarra & Bugg
He then sprung to his Santa Fe, pushed the start button
And away they flew along Wurundjeri Drive
But I heard St SOS exclaim, as he drove out of sight
Happy Draftmas & to all a healthy pre-season

Yes apologies,no man is immune from failure and an owl looks forward remembering it's tree. But if you rate Lukosius,Walsh and Rankine equally, then trade pick 1 for 3 and 22.It's a raffle in a way, one of them could turn out to be a dud still.Your next pick is in the 60's, I would do it myself.

Yeah, I'm not sure that you're sure about this.

No rationale for Walsh being at the Murphy/Gibbs level. Rankine being like Ablett Snr doesn't make a lot of sense. He was an absolute brute who used his weight to his advantage rather than an evasive lighter body, and an aerialist like few others.

Plus, we don't merely want equal points to trade out Pick 1. We want an offer too good to refuse.

All players can be compared to those who have prospered, failed or just carved out a decent career. You mentioning lukosius as a potential Roo, can as easily be a porential Watts. Rankine maybe the best thing we have seen but he could also now transition well to a new environment. The rigors of AFL and so forth.

We need another midfielder and because Walsh is quality and possess leadership and has been compared to the likes of Josh Kelly, Cotch etc, why wouldn't we?

No one knows who will be the best player from this draft will be. If we were higher up the ladder i think we might go a little more left field. But Walsh projects as a top line midfielder and a strong leader for our club. Walsh is a sensible choice. He will be a gun.

Yes,Walsh is a sensible choice but you should be picking the best available at pick one.You can address list needs with later picks.

The more I think about it picking Rankine and Rozzee at 3 and 6 (traded for 1 to GC) is the best for everybody. It allows GC to take Walsh and Lukosius at 1 and 2. GC cant be serious about taking Rankine, Lukosius and Rozzee at 2,3 and 6 and if they go home in 2 years that will end the club surely. Shut the ****ing doors. What is better for them is to take professionals that will commit long term and we could take advantage. Don't get me wrong, I'd love Walsh and will welcome him with open arms (and this is more likely to occur). There will be hindsight regrets in any draft and if we are regretting Walsh in 2-3 years then every single draft expert in the game is wrong. BUT Rankine and King/Smith/Rozzee/Caldwell could be huge for our depth and excitement inside 50.

Where they get selected in the draft and by whom is a whole different argument.

I'm really not sure that's the best for Gold Coast.

Surely 3 mates getting out of Adelaide at 18 and living on GC together would be a dream.. why would you ever go back? In fact, why would anyone who left Adelaide go back? I have only been there a few times and I dread the thought of it :p

My Final Top 10................My Top 10 for the CFC

1. Rankine......................1. Walsh
2. Walsh.........................2. Rankine
3. MKing.........................3. Rozee
4. Blakey........................4. Caldwell
5. Lukosius.....................5. Blakey
6. Rozee.........................6. Smith
7. BKing.........................7. MKing
8. Caldwell......................8. Lukosius
9. McLennan....................9. McHenry
10. Smith.......................10. Sturt

Silly exercise but I do consider needs for a club to some degree.
Don't like just grabbing talent and then having to work out how to utilise it, if already covered for the 'type'.

Blakey is somewhat unique in that he can play midfield and from what I saw, do it very well indeed.
I wouldn't consider the likes of Hately or RCD for Carlton, as we're covered for those types.
Lukosius way too low I know, but I genuinely like MKing & Blakey more.
