Managed to catch Andrew Carrazzo being interviewed this afternoon on SEN.

For those that didn't hear it, here is what they discussed:

- Last week's game: Disappointing result, had plenty of inside 50s and shots on goal but many wasted opportunities which ultimately hurt us. Have had plenty of goalkicking practice through the week so really looking forward to Saturday night against the Bombers.

- New forward structure: Very new and different, but at this early stage there have been some very encouraging signs. Mentioned that there was now an emphasis on spreading out and sharing the load rather than having 1 focal point up forward. Spoke very highly of Setanta and his ability not only to present and take a big grab but also his ability to compete excellently below his knees. Also mentioned Lachie and how he has made a really encouraging start to his new career in Navy Blue.

- Kreuzer: Carrots' words, and I quote - "He is a freak". Says it all, really. Has been outstanding in our first 2 games. He, along with Naitanui are beginning to revolutionize the role of the ruckman in the modern game, with the ability to play in the ruck and also as an extra midfielder around the ground.

- The rookies: Was asked to give a bit of information about some of the rookies who we have at the club in 2010. First up he mentioned Simon White who came to the club as a mature aged rookie and who the club believes can step up and play senior footy straight away if we need. Also mentioned Garlett who we all saw a fair bit of last season.

-Juddy: Very eager to shake off this suspension and get out onto the park. He's getting a bit impatient confined to watching from the stands and is champing at the bit to lead the club on the field, Sounds like he's really looking forward to playing and is set for a bit season.

-Waite: The everywhere man. Can play forward or back, even through the middle. Carrots said he'd probably prefer Waitey up forward but if the club needs him anywhere else on the park then that is where he should play.

-Brock: Really pleased with his start at a new club. Provides a lot of grunt in the middle of the park and also gives the club another player that can run through the midfield. Provides us with a nice even spread in the midfield.

I think that is all. If anyone else heard it and has something to add, go right ahead. :thumbsu:

is there a podcast anywhere of this... would love to listen to the interview.

I have no idea how to link audio files onto here but you can find Carrazzo's interview on the following page:

http://www.sen.com.au/default.aspx?s=audioplayer&aid=51

It is the 3rd interview available.

Just thought I'd add - Carrots is a very well spoken individual. Speaks exceptionally well and seems very level-headed. Another on our list who is genuine leadership quality (the MC obviously thinks so too).

Geez J can you take notes at lectures for me?

Thanks for the info, seems he answered everything as he should but he does speak well.

Thanks for the offer MBIB but I'll pass. I struggle to take notes in my own lectures, let alone somebody else's.

What can I say? I guess I only pay attention to things that I am interested in! :D

Couldn't agree more, this guy sounds like he's pretty switched on, glad to hear about the goal kicking practice, as long as we don't ease of practicing it the moment we start to kick straight. It's something that must be harped on week in week out.

Well, had Judd not gone ahead with what was really a frivolous appeal last year, he would have been playing this weekend against Essendon.

Thanks for the report J. Great to read that the club have been having goal kicking practice this week.

I think a lot was made of our bad kicking after the game against Collingwood in round 17 last year when we kicked 4.16 so there was a big emphasis at training on goal kicking that week, we came out and kicked 14.10 against the Kangaroos the week after. The Roos kicked 11.18 that game, shows just how important it is.

As a whole, I think that our goal kicking isn't that flash, and more of an emphasis should be made of this at training. Given all the time the club invests in the players, if they can't convert there chances when needed, it kind of makes the rest of the development appear a little useless.

Carrots and JR have to be two of the most articulate interviewees in the league that aren't superstar level players. Can always count on the two of them to give insightful interviews.

This coming only a couple of weeks after a similar thread that berated our team's lack of interview skills is nice.

Some players simply have the gift of gab whereas other players should do all their talking out on the field.
