Managed to catch Andrew Carrazzo being interviewed this afternoon on SEN.
For those that didn't hear it, here is what they discussed:
- Last week's game: Disappointing result, had plenty of inside 50s and shots on goal but many wasted opportunities which ultimately hurt us. Have had plenty of goalkicking practice through the week so really looking forward to Saturday night against the Bombers.
- New forward structure: Very new and different, but at this early stage there have been some very encouraging signs. Mentioned that there was now an emphasis on spreading out and sharing the load rather than having 1 focal point up forward. Spoke very highly of Setanta and his ability not only to present and take a big grab but also his ability to compete excellently below his knees. Also mentioned Lachie and how he has made a really encouraging start to his new career in Navy Blue.
- Kreuzer: Carrots' words, and I quote - "He is a freak". Says it all, really. Has been outstanding in our first 2 games. He, along with Naitanui are beginning to revolutionize the role of the ruckman in the modern game, with the ability to play in the ruck and also as an extra midfielder around the ground.
- The rookies: Was asked to give a bit of information about some of the rookies who we have at the club in 2010. First up he mentioned Simon White who came to the club as a mature aged rookie and who the club believes can step up and play senior footy straight away if we need. Also mentioned Garlett who we all saw a fair bit of last season.
-Juddy: Very eager to shake off this suspension and get out onto the park. He's getting a bit impatient confined to watching from the stands and is champing at the bit to lead the club on the field, Sounds like he's really looking forward to playing and is set for a bit season.
-Waite: The everywhere man. Can play forward or back, even through the middle. Carrots said he'd probably prefer Waitey up forward but if the club needs him anywhere else on the park then that is where he should play.
-Brock: Really pleased with his start at a new club. Provides a lot of grunt in the middle of the park and also gives the club another player that can run through the midfield. Provides us with a nice even spread in the midfield.
I think that is all. If anyone else heard it and has something to add, go right ahead.
