Casey Player Review for this week is out.

You guys are gonna really like this bit...

Sam Blease: Sam played his best game for us. He had 28 possessions and played off half-back/wing. He ran the lines and did the hard stuff. He was defensively good and set-up at least half-a-dozen goals. His attack from defence and run through the lines was sensational. It was a really promising performance and one we’ve been waiting for. We know he can do it and he showed it, so he’ll get a lot of confidence from that.

Reading through that every Melbourne player in Casey seniors put his hand up for selection, but of course they will only force their way into the side through consistent performances.

Bate and Petterd putting pressure on Watts. Warnock and Macdonald as capable back up for our backline. Good to see our higher picks in Blease and Strauss play well.

After reading the draft dossier on Blease from the Melbourne website, i have faith he will play some very good AFL footy for us. Just needs to get his body right which he seems to have done now, very good to hear he stacked on 10kg since being at the club.

Evans could be an absolute steal in the rookie draft and nicholson not to far behind him.

Very positive signs. Also excited at;
- Gawn having 18 touches and a lot of hitouts,
- Nicholson dominating again, he is knocking on the door should injury strike
- Evans another 27+ disposal game. Can find the footy and like Nicho is knocking on the door if a spot opens up
- Strauss getting 27 touches and having a good game

Bad signs;
- Fitzy and McNamara stinking it up in the reserves

That write-up was good to very good, which was pleasing.

Not bad :thumbsu:

People have already mentioned the Melbourne guys doing well, which is great to see.

The bit on Dan Nicholson is also pretty interesting, and I think it gives a pretty decent insight into why AFL clubs aren't overly interested in Sewell.

Looks like Bate had a really good game with 26 possessions & kicking 3.3.

But from some of the reports I've read it sounded like we were playing a VFL team with not many AFL listed players. It also looked like half our team had their best games for Casey such was the domination.

Sounds like they also played GC17.

This is the Goalkickers & Best off the VFL site:

Casey Scorpions
Goal Kickers: R. Petterd 4, M. Bate 3, A. Lindsay 2, D. Nicholson , L. Cook , N. JETTA , M. Stockdale , K. McShane , M. EVANS , K. LAWRENCE
Best Players: D. Nicholson, M. Bate, M. Warnock, L. Cook, S. Blease, R. Petterd

Same best is on the HS site here

Interesting comments/observations from that article
- Petterd played on a wing
- 11 Casey players (8 MFC listed) had 23 or more touches & Casey had over 150 extra possessions
- North Ballarat only had 3 NMFC players & Casey had 15.
- Last quarter was a draw NB 1.1 to Casey's 0.7!! Casey has 19 inside 50s in the last quarter for no goals, no wonder Gotch said he was disappointed the margin wasn't greater
- Great to see Blease & Cook getting in the best
- Juice will be spewing he got that suspension, his recent VFL form he probably would've kicked 15 goals if he'd played & been a certainty for a senior game, but it wasn't to be
