Just a guess but I'd say that he is rested all together then straight back in next week

Can anyone shine any light on Jimmy T's game. very little mention of him that I can find?

He'll get a mention in the VFL player review I'd say. Probably online tomorrow.

VFL Player Review, Round 4

Chris Dawes: A successful return to football for Chris, he played out his required game time and clearly demonstrated that he has overcome his hamstring injury. He also contributed with two important goals.

Lynden Dunn: Lynden played a near perfect game. His 35 disposals, 11 marks and two goals were from half-back. His efficiency by foot was a standout in very difficult windy conditions. More importantly, he pulled up really well.

James Strauss: James is playing with confidence and genuine speed. He is looking as quick as he has been since returning to football last season. His offensive work (15 disposals) from half-back, as well as his ability to play tight defence, has been a positive.

Reckon those are the three most likely to come in, Fitzpatrick had a good game too. Viney obviously didn't play but will be in contention.

If Dawes doesn't get up, I hope Fitzpatrick comes in for Pedersen.

Gawn and Fitz in the same forward line, an HFF fantasy.

Dawes shouldn't play, his two goals came from a gimme free kick not in the play and a botched switch from a Willy player - he only took one more mark then that for the game as well.

Would be throwing him to the wolves, and opening him up for a lot of public criticism IMO.

Hmmm yeah you could be right... it's just that we so desperately need some sort of workable forward set up. With no Dawes yet Watts will sit deep forward all afternoon getting cold, and then be opened up to the microscope again through no fault of his own.

Fitz might actually get a run too after a few weeks of good form. Hope he shows more than his last few runs in the side when he showed next to nothing.

Agree with other as well re: Dawes. He probably needs another run before coming back into the senior side, but there is always the chance he is rushed back in with Clark out for 6 weeks.

He was one of the better players we had when we played Freo last year.

And that's not saying much at all. Horrible game all round that one.

True that. The best part was being able to breath a sigh of relief because 2012 was finally over. Unfortunately the form continued.

I reckon Burgan might be having quiet words to the selection committee... he struggles to go a week without writing a selection story which starts off "Player X has been rushed back to face...". Problem is that Dawes hasn't played a game for us yet.

Feel bad for Burgs. All these years at the bottom makes it a pretty hard job to write for hope.

It's almost worth another shitty year just to see if he finally cracks and just writes a Supermercado -style 7 page rant with wrestling references and random line breaks.

Strauss surely comes in. Has been consistently good to very good in the VFL and we need help with Carlton's small forwards. Might mean we drop a tall defender - McDonald perhaps?

Agree with this. Not only should Strauss come in but I think Dunn deserves a spot as well. I think he could take a Betts or Garlett and annoy the shit out of them all day while wearing them like a glove. He has the ability to do that.

Hell, watching Dunn annoys the shit out of me all day.

I think I'm one of a few who enjoys watching it though. He's a prick and I love seeing him get under the oppositions skin. If it puts them off their game then it's all good!

Good to see we're top of the VFL ladder. Clearly there is talent on our list. Not enough good experienced players to back it up.

Casey has been good in the VFL for a while now. Unfortunately we just have a lot of very good VFL players who can't make the transition to AFL football. Guys like Maric, Bate, Bennell were all fantastic at VFL level, but very very average against AFL opponents.

Thankfully this year, we have some that are still untested at AFL level. Taggert, Kent, Hogan and Barry provide hope!
