Accountability from our forwards and mids was atrocious in open play. Don't think I've seen be as bad at stopping a side moving the ball at KP in quite some time. Broke the zone repeatedly to then have their forwards isolated and kicked to advantage.

Were you at the game as well? That’s exactly what happened, so frustrating that nothing was really done to stop it.

Personally i think Geelong would be far better off at the MCG

The last 2-3 years bar the odd exception watching Geel play at KP it is just utter frustrating hell.

The amazing thing is that we got so close with a patchwork backline and a number of players who could have been legitimately subbed out for my aunt Maisie.
We got out out jail in some close ones recently but our luck had to turn at some point.
A few players are spinning their wheels at the moment.

I'm usually driving th SDK is a bit weak bandwagon but I thought he was pretty good??

We should've won, and I'm disappointed but I think I'm more optimistic than most in here by the sounds of it. Didn't expect to win with so many out, was really impressed with how competitive we were and continue to be.

Hang on for a few more wins, get some players back and could be set for a big second half of the year.

SDK's stats look good but they don't tell the full story of his game. A lot of his mistakes were baffling positional errors that don't show up on the stats sheet.

I get that we're short on options but Clark continuing to get a game is ridiculous, he's so far off AFL level it's not funny. Give Stevens a chance or restructure the side to fit Polkinghorne in or something. Jhye should have been dropped multiple times already this year, the MC have blinkers on when it comes to him.

It seems like really poor selection doesn't it? Watching the VFL and seeing what they have available to them, it has to be him or Clohesy playing that role so they're being selected. But clearly neither of them are up to doing it right now, and running around the wing/half forward is much more suited to a Duncan type of player that is just very smart with his positioning. At some point something has to give with restructuring around this glaring hole each week

I was at the game. One thing I noticed is that Hogan often doesn't chase his man, and just sort of hangs back in his forward half. So when the ball is turned over and GWS get some quick movement their way, he's on his own or at least in a strong position while all the defenders are trying to run back.

A bit dumb for our boys not to notice, but also a bit of bad luck - if we hadn't had some horrible turnovers, we may have been able to make better use of the extra man.

Individual errors in the 4th quarter cost us.

A poor kick out of defence by SDK when not under pressure led to a Hogan goal.
A bad handball by Duncan lost us possession in the middle of the field.
Miers handballing to a Giants player sat on the ground.
The easy kick at goal by Blicavs that hit the post.

Dangerfield trying to give Neale an easy shot at goal etc

There are hundreds of them a game and no single one is ultimately responsible

SDK doesn’t watch his man and he ends up 10-20 metres away from where the ball lands.

Particularly given his job seemed to be to tag Ward in the forward line - why not give that job to a forward?

's book. The guy runs all day, goes in hard and never gives up. You can see how hungry he is, he never wants to get beaten. Anyone that doesn't want to play like that and give their all for the club can gtfo.

SDK was exposed tonight because he was forced to play as the last line of defense in the high press which he isnt suited to at all. Henry and Stewart are the two that do it the best. So often tonight SDK and COS were the ones having to do it and neither of them can. Is why Hogan got the easiest 7 goals you'll ever see. SDK only ever looks good when he is up the ground or playing on Aaron Naughton.

I like O'Sullivan, but someone needs to tell him he shouldn't be trying to affect every contest in the backline. That last one he tried to go third man up at but got nowhere near it, only to leave his direct opponent to waltz into an open goal was extremely telling in the wash-up.

He's learning the ropes of course, but I agree - just because he can get to every single contest, doesn't mean he should.
Happily he strikes me as a quick learner.

Giants must have good intel. They are always running to right places at critical stages in a game. Some of their gut running types are constantly patrolling the wings and making it difficult for us to go coast-to-coast.
Kelly and Bedford would further empathized this. Bedford in particular who is now a terrific tagger. Giants have a pretty good schedule in the second half of the season. Should set themselves well from here.

I'm genuinely trying to see what Clark offers that past failures like Constable, Lang and GHS didn't. At least the latter two could hit the scoreboard every now and then.

Kicked poor all year and has lost distance. He kicked em from 50 in 2022 but right now anything outside 40 he can't make the distance.
