The list management were big on Clark.
At this stage it looks a bust.
Can't remember who else was on offer at the time.

Ok get Clark but not at the first pick.
I've been patient but I think he's really struggling to crack it. I'm not sure what his future is

I was standing up that last 10 minutes when Danger got it I envisioned him running into goal and getting it but didn’t happen. Then Blitz marked it prayed to God he would kick it but wasn’t confident, my dad said I have faith in him then looked good off the boot, then hits the post last minute, back to being stressed, Mannagh gets it twice at end wastes it both times. Dad has radio on says there’s only few secs left so we left, walking out and siren. Soo depressed, what have we got to do to defeat them by less than a kick…

Given there are better options now I wouldn't take him, but last year I would have, for the right price. For as bad as everyone says he is, he'd still be our 2nd at worst 3rd best mid.
He may well be, but he'd be on 1.2 million a year (at a minimum) while doing so.

You've got to take a full-scale view of this. It's pointless otherwise.

I disagree that Oliver would help right now whatsoever, but to play devils advocate, let's say he was helping at even 5% after picking him up last year.

Is that 5% worth 1.2 million a year? + the picks that would have been required? While also taking away from whatever chance we have to get Rowell, Reid, Butters, or Worpel?

I'd say no.

I want to give George the best opportunity to make it but I don't think that's soon if ever

Clark I don't think he's getting anything out of senior level footy and we're not getting anything out of him. He needs to get to vfl level as soon as we can put him back there, maybe a rotation on the wing but I would still tell him to chase the ball mostly. See how he responds.
Not a fan of his so far this year. Showed glimpses last year..gone backwards…

The Jack Henry hamstring was cruel, he was playing career best football and the knock on effects to our backline have been calamitous.

At the ground there would have been another 8-10 times in the game where GWS were cutting through our zone with ease and there'd be Cadman, Hogan, Stringer etc in the open with a numerical outnumber that'd result in an easy goal but they'd **** up one possession and we'd force a stoppage or turnover. We could have been beaten handsomely today as I cannot think of more than 1-2 times we did the same to them.

The system was definitely off, at a couple of those ****ed up opportunities Hogan was one out deepest forward on Mullin and then Duncan. Need Henry back in ASAP.
Yeah i just watched first crack and saw the vision, mostly of SDK, just getting caught between guarding space defending the man. Man we looked good with Jack back there early in the season and now we're in all sorts

We did everything but win that game
Probably got lucky last week, not so today

I was sitting right behind the Blicavs post.. never looked like missing it!

And I'm 0-2 attending this season, include the prelim 0-3 in my last games attended

One more loss and it's TV for me

Jack was performing as a borderline elite KPD before injury, and has good stopping power. Was a suitable anchor you could rely on to hold the fort.

SDK is doing the intercepting bit fine, but the actual art of defending (running, contesting, nullifying) he is a million miles off.

I've been the same .
He shows a bit as sub .
The the following week in the starting team...not much .

Yeah he's not big but serong not big ok maybe not the best compassion on the both.

Interesting how he turns out .

Maybe he moves to HF more and then somee mid time ...

Stevens must get go soon.

They're big on Clark now he's on the list buuuut ... iirc they did make a song and dance about wanting to find a trade for the pick before the draft and has no takers

I doubt George is going to have a huge influence, and even more so doubt that he's the answer.

Let's be real here though, we just had a bloke have three possessions in three quarters of football. I'm rarely this harsh, but that's genuinely piss poor.

The bar is in the gutter right now for those last three or so spots in the 23.

Luckily it's likely to improve greatly with Stanley, Laws, Stewy, Henry, and Kolo back, and maybe even Martin, Guth and TB if we're lucky.

Let's not kid ourselves here though. In the meantime, you could pluck a player out of the Shanghai Footy League ane we'd get the same production that we're getting out of Jhye (among others) right now.

It would actually be impressive for George to be any worse.

Don't get me wrong, we should've and could've won that game but it's a long season and even the fact we were within a kick is encouraging. All I want to say is that we're not full strength and still coming desperately close to winning with remarkably easier opposition still yet to come

I'm not quite ready to give up on Clark - today wasn't good and he's got to be back to the VFL next week, but where he & we go from here, I'm not sure

There needs to be an honest conversation between the player & club about what they each see the future being about - if the club sees him as more of an outside player for now, then allow him the opportunity to spend time playing that role in the VFL. Maybe it's about splitting time between CBA and starting on the wing, but still attacking contests hard regardless of where he finds himself on the ground

Maybe the other part of that conversation is if they see him as part of the future or if they're open to options come seasons end

Have you been watching Melbourne? Don't want to derail the thread here but he makes them 3-4 goals worse and would do the same to us

Steak knives for Reid. Throw Clohesy in as a sweetener. Hell, would they be interested in Bowes? I'm not sure I see any of them in a premiership side. Bowes is really not giving us enough for his age and experience level.

They'd be pretty blunt streaknives, but we can dream.

He genuinely reminded me of this classic today. It was that bad.

I was already aware of the 5 loss run at home, but bugger me if it's not bloody annoying.

View attachment 2311838

Three losses by 4 points and three times efforts at kicking ourselves out of it.

I seem to recall a period where we could never beat Hawthorn or West Coast at home in the 90s. This is beyond that.
So was it 2018 then?

Crameri kicked 2 for us
Shiel their best on, Jon Patton quiet up forward
Thurlow not a bad outing with 22d and a goal
Ratugolea showing why he's the future kpf with 2 goals
Gregson, Cunico, and Scott Selwood also contributing

Wow

So it’s your fault 😂

Clark is predictably the biggest overreaction.

He played a very solid game last week. He didn't get near it today. Last week or the first half against Stkilda didn't suddenly mean he'll be a good player and today or the game against Brisbane didn't suddenly mean he'll never make it.

He's miles off it physically. As a pure mid that makes things difficult because playing him in there risks us being uncompetitive in a key area of the ground. He's obviously not a winger but we're out of options right now. He did the job last week. Didn't this week.

Things change fast though. It's funny that people are begging for Bruhn to come back. Early in the third year of his career he was going every bit as badly as Clark is now (which isn't as badly as most around here think tonight).

They've got to work out where they see the future

Clark going back to the VFL and playing as a key inside mid as part of that VFL rotation where he picks up 25/30+ disposals looks great on the stat sheet, and would hopefully give Jhye some confidence

He could do that for a month or 6 weeks, be named in our bests each week and seemingly pushing for a recall, but it doesn't necessarily mean much if that recall sees him back out on the wing in a role he doesn't get the practice in playing in the VFL

We need to start playing him in the VFL where we see a potential future in the AFL for him - I have no doubt he'll play seniors at some stage again this season, I just hope we give him the best preparation for that

The baby is really out with the bath water tonight.

They're a good team. We were very undermanned. After the first 20 minutes we completely dominated the game and should've won comfortably but didn't take our chances.

It's frustrating but ultimately if we're good enough and can get a decent injury run it'll be meaningless come September.

I'm pretty sure that if the coaches paid even an inch of attention at fans frustrations in regards to players to dropped to the VFL, those never to be seen again etc, we'd be forfeiting more then a few games during the season due to insufficient numbers to field a team
