Well everyone, the day/night has arrived when our boys will be at The Carlton B&F. Yes folks it is tonight at the Paladium (if thats how it's spelt) Room, Crown Casino.
Good luck to the boys & may the best & fairest man win..... hehehe

To everyone on BF, I will be posting up who wins as soon as it is announced as my 3 daughters will be there & I am getting them to sms me with the outcome.

Well, I think we may know the winner of one of the categories.....
best first year player..... hmmmm now who may that go to????? KROOOOZZZEEEEEEEEEEE :thumbsu:

chat later everyone

Was going with Murph most of the year but believe he might be pipped.

1. Judd
2. Murphy
3. Waite
4. Fevola
5. Stevens
6. Scotland
7. Gibbs
8. Carrazzo
9. Cloke
10. Simpson

.... or not ......

On first reading I thought that was too high for Cloke. But I'm finding it hard to find anyone who could take his place in the top 10 and he has had a pretty solid year.

Yeah Gibbs and Scotland might swap places. Stevens also polls well so is higher than I might have him normally. Someone like Jamo might get in there despite missing a few games.

I wouldve thought that Fev would be very unlucky to finish fourth.. and gibbs ahead of scotland IMO but otherwise that looks pretty right:thumbsu:

Thanks True Blue will be great to get live updates. And i think that cloke finishing in the top 10 will be just reward for a bloke who has taken Carlton to heart and now bleeds blue.

Yeah, as good as Waite has been you'd probably put him below Fev.

The problem is I keep second guessing our B&F points system. They reward roles and they reward endeavour and are not carried away with the flashy stuff.

Ordinarily a FF who kicks 99 would almost win his club's B&F, but every single dummy spit, free kick, lack of chasing throughout the year should come back to haunt Fev. Waitey has had his best season as well and has been a real team man in defence. It may get noticed.

My views on the finishing order are different to where I think they will finish as outlined above.

Exactly, and beat out Matty Lappin who had an AA season IIRC.

Hate to argue with you ODN but Gibbs would be in the top 4 for me.
Ellard, Judd, Gibbs, Fev,Murph, Waite, Stevo

Gibbs is an interesting one. Seldom do our youngsters poll very strongly this early in their careers.

This is how I would have the award pan out:

1. Murphy
2. Judd
3. Waite
4. Fev
5. Gibbs
6. Scotland
7. Cloke
8. Jamison
9. Carrazzo
10. Stevens

As I said, just second guessing what we traditionally do.

The dummy spits, frees and 50 frees I'll give ya, but Fev's chasing and pressuring the defence has been pretty good this year. Even after he signed for another 3 years, unlike last time.

Has definitely been better this year but still not great. If a midfielder gave up on a chase as often as Fev does or stopped to look for a free, he would be out the door pretty quick. Forwards have a luxury most don't get. For an example of Fev's giving his all, look at the last quarter of the Hawks game. I am not sure that I have ever seen him put in as much as he did when his personal milestone was within reach.

Not knocking him. Fev is Fev and we take it because he is so brilliant but I still don't think he put in as much as he could.

If Fev put in all game, every game, we would either win 4 extra games per season as the team would benefit or he would kick 120 + goals per season.

Point taken about trying after signing a contract though. It was great to see.

Oh and could I be cynical enough to suggest that the B&F winner might be someone yet to re-sign, which in turn gives them the incentive to stay and not hold out for terms? Or does it work the other way in that their value increases and the ask for more?

On the flipside, I've seen him chase after players 30m when he's no chance of getting anywhere near them...his chasing is right up there with any key forward in the competition.

I'm rooting for Fev all the way. Has been without doubt our best player for the last 6 years, yet has no B&F next to his name to show for it. If the second best ever season recorded by a Blues forward (in terms of goals kicked) isn't good enough to win him one, then I don't know what is.

Me thinks it's time we locked Murphy in a dark room with a pen and contract papers...

i cant wait....will be there tonight in the thick of it

if anyone is going.......look for the most pissed person there....that should be me.......well hopefully!!!!

:D:D

Don't underestimate your competition, SON!

My predictions:

1. Judd
2. Fev
3. Waite
4. Murphy
5. Gibbs
6. Betts
7. Grigg
8. Stevo
9. Scotland
10. Carazzo

Hoping Fev wins - his acceptance speech would be interesting :)

Seriously 99 goals in a season - would have to grab a few votes along the way.

Will be interested to see how many votes Grigg gets as he did a job most games and did pretty well.

Hard to go pust Juddy though - consistent and his average is still better than most people's good.

Dark horses would be carazzo - still got a heap of the ball this year and Jamison - he is fast becoming one of my favourites.

Better times ahead

Don't underestimate your competition, SON!

ok look for the 2nd most pissed person then

or look for a tall skinny guy dry rooting rusty.........then look at the guy holding a camera laughing out loud....the guy with the camera should be me

hahaha
