He was clearly bouncing off the walls. Great to see and we haven't seen that for years with our draftees. Butch looked sad, Moore looked sad, they always look bloody sad. It's great to see a refreshing happy lad.

Me too. But for 1.09 he's like the kid who received the best ever Xmas present.
 
Wingard has been following the tradition of footballers working in a bank - eg Russell Ebert, I think Blight did too? - Chad has worked 1 day a week in a bank at Murray Bridge, although I suspect his days at the CBA would now be over :)

In all honesty,

I rate him up there with the best talent on our list.

Only Hartlett and Boak have as much potential imo.

Trengove a smart runner, presents and presents and presents, gets to where the ball is going and a reasonalble user of the ball. His hurt factor is from the weight of his disposals.
Hartlett more of a classy receiver who can do magic stuff inside with average endurance.
Ebert a bullocking work horse a bit like Trengove but is a poor user of the ball by foot.
Wingard - more like Hartlett, has some real magic and hurt factor is huge, more agression inside than Hartlett and a better overhead mark. He may not have had the hype of the others but he could be the best of the lot of them.

Come grand final day Wingard would be the one I would pick first.
 
For those who missed out on the second half (2/3rds) of the video.

- "Great privilege to be a part of a team that probably struggled last year"
- No work that he has ever done before will compare to what he has to do now.
- A lot to prove to the coaches and team mates
- wants to make a name for himself.
- Would like to be a well respected on field and off field player

Excited most about:
- The chance to play against the Crows.

Crows:
Never given a choice in the matter cause his family where die hard crowies.
Thinks they'll probably be Port supporters from here on.

Expectations:
- None! Just wants to do the best he can to be the best player he can be.
 
Congrats guys, can't believe he got through to 6 (maybe GWS scared of the go-home with him?). You've got a ripper.
 
Knew nothing about him previously, but he looks and sounds the goods.

And yeah, there is definitely a touch of Wanga in that highlights vid. If he turns out to be as good as Wangas' toenails, we'll be on a winner.

Can I just say that that is the best interview (hands down) I have ever seen a Port Adelaide player give. Wonderfully articulate, humble, mature, concise and precise with his answers. There is no one on our current list who speaks better than that, and I doubt there is anyone in the entire AFL even amongst seasoned campaigners like Adam Goodes or Chris Judd. Captaincy material all over him.
 
Don't know if the comparison has been made yet, but from what I read of his play and have seen of his brief highlights, he reminds me of a young Wangas. The overhead marking, the running back with the flight of the ball, the frame, the freakish goals, the reliable set shot taking for goal, the questionable endurance;). I hope that unlike Gav he actually does find a spot in our centre-square rotations and manages to maintain high possession ratings throughout his career.
