Mcstay is confident and in career best form. If he gets some early goals, Lever will probably be moved to him.
Fullerton has an important role if/when lever is near him, get the ball to ground. Let Cameron or McCarthy do the rest.
Gawn is my biggest worry.
If we can score 85+ points we will win.

I'll wear the Tiger fans hat for a second.... ***clears throat*** I wonder if there'll be a AFL secret push to get Melbourne / Geelong QF wins as it makes AFL prelim scheduling convenient 🤷‍♂️🤷‍♂️🤷‍♂️

One thing is for sure if Port and Brisbane both qualify for home prelim finals by winning this week - you can't grant one a home game and not the other (provided Covid in not a factor). Chris Scott has had his regular sook and got his way then.

If Lever goes to Fullerton, the plan is simple.....Fullerton takes Lever out of our planned inside 50 strategies so he has no/less of an impact. That said, I do not think it will be that easy to negate their backline attack however I do think we take them on 1 on 1 and win most contests.

The challenge is stopping their midfield and clearances all over the ground.

Harris & Robbo in...the outs will be interesting to most.

The problem is I'm not sure Lever would care much about Fullarton. He'll probably just let him go.

I think he just needs to try and "legally" shepherd Lever out of the marking contests. Then hopefully cut down the intercept marks and get repeat stoppages inside 50

Either that or we try to force Lever onto someone like McCarthy, Cockatoo or Ah Chee and play through them which also doesn't really suit our gameplan.

With Hipwood injured we don't really have an answer for Lever and it will hurt us.

Bit of a clarification here:

Almost makes you wonder whether losing this weekend and then getting to spend another week at home and in front of the Gabba crowd might be a better pathway.

Especially if there is going to be a pre-grand final bye, meaning the winners this weekend will have the disruption of a week off, then playing, then having another week off.

Of course, if we're good enough none of those finer details will matter all that much. But it's an interesting discussion at any rate.

I doubt any defender would just let his opponent go, BUT, if they do, I am 100% sure that the Fagan/Daly brains trust will use that to our advantage just as much as Melbourne would use Lever running free. To let any forward run unattended is playing a dangerous & potentially costly game.

Honestly it sounds like the best free hit in top four history. Lose and be one of the only teams who get to sleep in their own beds and get a final home game in, refresh and set up for a prelim and GF.

Win and we're away from home for weeks on end and have two byes in four weeks.

Sounds fair enough to me. We seemed to enjoy our last visit to WA as well

Would be such a disappointment to miss out on hosting and going to a Prelim at the Gabba.... ah well at least with no WA sides in the finals there'll be no home ground advantage for anyone.

What the hell happens if Perth gets a Covid case in the mean time, I guess the games would be moved to Adelaide?

Happens quite often. An intercepting defender will just hang back and let their opponent go up the ground and get swallowed up by a zone defence.

Fullarton isn't a great ball user or shot on goal so he won't be very damaging

Nek minut Fullarton kicks four and wins us the game. Thanks Lever 😎

There is almost an incentive for us to lose if PA win on friday. With a Port win and our loss, the path would be home semi, away prelim (SA) and away GF (WA)

If we win the path looks like away prelim (WA) and away GF. But our opponents would be playing their semi in the same WA ground before a prelim against us so in a way its a disadvantage for us after a week's break. This is in spite of winning a Quali.

I think we should still argue the case of hosting Prelim, otherwise there is not much benefit for us to win on Saturday.

You don’t seem to understand it takes a while for players coming back from injuries to get match fitness .especially a long term one.
Jarrod has improved every game as has Cocky,
Also young players like Fullarton take time to adjust to big time games . He has been thrown in the deep end and has to learn quickly ..
Patience is needed .

Jarrod was also sick a couple of years back and took him awhile to recover. In a way he's almost back to square one but improving rapidly.

WA dropped level of border from QLD hope it makes a diff

WA relaxing border restrictions with SA and QLD, but introducing hard border with NZ

The hard border with Queensland is coming down, it's being reclassified from medium to low risk. There are still some restrictions in place.

When we played Port I seem to remember that we identified Allir's intercept marking as a risk. So who ever he marked up on, they did their best to lead him straight up the ground away from the forward arc. I wonder if we do something similar to just drag him away from the contest as much as possible

WA may get 2 semis and a Grand final (or) 2 semis, 2 prelims and a Grand final pending Victorian government decision on moving GF off MCG. Looks like a good deal to me.
