Marshall for the Saints was possibly their best (on stats without seeing much of the game) against Goldstein and Draper.

They didn't need 2 Rucks and Goldstein is perhaps a liability for the Bombers. Won’t be surprised if the Bombers switch back to one.

We had one too many a small midget fwd. if Jones gets a game it will be a disgrace. Finlayson was worst on for mine, tried to play out the back of Lever and allowed about 8 intercept marks.

Bergman i think needs to go back as he helps our shape and structure so much when back there. We are getting caught out over the back and exposed on transition. He always seemed to be like glue on his opponent last year.

Boak i think can be good this year on the wing, good signs early after last year playing injured.

The other wing i think i would go Burgoyne at this point but if it doesnt work then another defender will have to be experimented. Farrell, Burton, Houston?

The players will come out flat as a tac after that game. Demoralising type of loss when you dominate play like that. It shouldnt work like that and it should give them more motivation but ive seen it too often as a supporter.

After so many of those types of loses it just feels like Deja Vu.

I'm starting to feel like not bothering attending myself.
Been such a depressing experience the past couple of seasons seeing us stink it up and lack passion in our play so often.
Feel as if, if the players can't give a toss, why should I any more?

All of above are great but it still leaves us with no 2nd ruck. Findlayson was horrendously bad in all facets of his game and Jones served up his usual game of rubbish. Jones needs an extended period with the 2’s to work out his “yips”.
It was very telling last night when he got the “bronx cheer” for clunking a mark. Generally the Port supporter base know their stuff and the cheer was like in the old days of Fos & Jack when the team would be crucified at the social club after a poor game. Those two coaches knew that the reception from the fans would be less than friendly after a poor game, if it was seemed that certain players weren’t pulling their weight. It was expected!

One thing about last night's game...

I am not convinced that Soldo is the complete answer in ruck. He is a competitive unit against middle of the road rucks but he was absolutely monstered by Max Gawn

last night. I think when we come up against a side with a class ruckman or two competitive ruckmen we should seriously consider playing two ruckmen. Last night we could have played Soldo with Sweet or Visentini in support in place of Finlayson. We would have lost nothing in the move and we might have curbed Gawn's dominance. Why did we recruit Jordan Sweet if we are not going to play him?

I am not sure if Essendon will play both Goldstein and Draper but if they do Ivan may be up against it again. The problem is we have a Coach who learns nothing from defeat and does nothing to address the shortcomings.
