isn't McNamara still a rookie?

Nah McNamara is on the senior list, but even if he wasn't it's getting to the stage where we are going to have to start playing them regardless of form.

The way we are going it's going to force us to play Watts before he is ready.

Could someone give me a little bit of information on McNamara? Never heard of him.

Also, what's the word on Frawley's injury? Heard anything yet?

McNamara would be the one.

Unless they wanna just go with Martin and Warnock against a Dogs forward line which isn't overly tall.
Guys like Frawley and even Bell are whats needed to play on Johnson, Akermanis, Welsh, Murphy yet at 190(?)cm tall McNamara may be able to do a job.

If Martin plays back then is Spencer a chance to play?
Johnson played very well today yet he rarely strings 2 together and coming back from Subi could be a worry.

....just thinking aloud.

Tom McNamara is around about 190cm medium backman. South Australian boy who was an AIS graduate. Played mainly Sandringham 2's last year but stepped it up with a good preseason followed by an interruption earlier this year, and played very well for Casey seniors two weeks in a row. Strengths are reading the play and run from the backline, but weakness was sticking tight to his man.

No news on Frawley besides it's an adductor strain apparently.

Tactics - Bartram back in the backline to act as a senior player. The temptation is to bring in Bell or Whelan, or drop back Bruce, but lets give the youngsters a go, the dogs forwards will give them a very good test. McNamara might have to go to Brad Johnson on debut, good luck!

Midfield were all decent today and no change there. Dunn goes back into the midfield, playing as the backup outside mid. I'm loving the way he is playing right now, I'm not sure if he's doing a hell of a lot but he is running hard and attacking the contest.

The forwards all player pretty well. I'm still not sold on Petterd as a defensive forward but he keeps popping up with a couple goals. Bate was better today, I really hope he can string some good ones together. He is horrible below the knees but can kick a footy, and can mark. Maric showed his true class.

I'd say we'd have to bring in Spencer if fit (or Jamar if he's ready to go, although fitness at Casey would be better for him but we may have no choice but to throw him straight back in). I didn't mind Martin in the ruck but I don't think we can have him pinch hitting in the ruck now that we are down to just him and Warnock as our talls in the backline.

Geez I really liked Maric today, great stuff after a horror return last week.

Petterd is doing a job up forward, he's kicking a few goals and does move up the field occasionally. I'm really starting to like him in the forward line.

Hopefully Bate can back up today's effort with a solid game next week.

Is Frawley definitely out this week? I'm not sure that we even know that yet.

Not sure if I'd agree with Martin on Higgins and Warnock on Murphy.

Martin is quick but he is still 198cm....

I'd let Bruce go onto Murphy. I know that he's had success on Johnson in the past but that was when Johnson was younger and ran more. Now that Johnno will play even deeper in the forward line, I'd just put Warnock on him.

I'd bring Cheney back before Bell. I like Bell but Cheney deserves another crack. I think that he was dropped too early.

I wouldn't bring in Spencer. Martin will need to be more accountable when rucking though. Lynch got too free today when against him in the ruck.

Your blokes are definetely on the rise.

As for next week's match-ups, Welsh is back in the side and that's released Johnno to play a high forward role. Bruce may still be the best match-up but Johnson will have greater room to move than in the past.

The most dangerous bloke you need to worry about is Murphy...one of the hardest match-ups going around with his pace and agility. Stop him and you'll go a long way to upsetting us.

So much for McNamara not getting a run due to our abundance of tall defenders, if both Rivers and Chip cant get up for the weekend I can see him coming in along with Cheney/Bell

After watching that last game I nearly feel like saying the whole team should be dropped (bar a few). I dunno why but to me it was horrible. I know we only lost by 8 points but to me it felt like a whole lot more. We shoulda won and this week is just too scary to think about at the moment. I hope we win I honestly do, but I think atm it's safer to say Scully and Butcher are on their way. Critisisim is welcome, I need my head cleared lol.

Anyone know where Strauss is at?
Had a shoulder injury then returned two Saturdays ago with a half in reserve, but was reported for charging if I recall correctly. He got 1 week I think, so therefore with the week off for Casey last week I presume he still has to serve his penalty. So I think in a fortnights time he should play a full game of Casey reserves or maybe seniors depending on Melbourne backline injuries.

With Bennell and Grimes playing good footy I can't see him getting a game for a while. I would think the side would be better balanced with not only a few big defenders but also more of the shutdown blokes like Cheney and Bartram. That said you hope that when we are a force the shutdown guys have improved their skills or the classier guys like Bennell, Grimes and Strauss have improved their defence (not that their defence is horrible for first and second year players.

Who's going to Lake?

He has great core strength.

He could prove a problem for you guys. I think he'll play forward this weekend, I just don't see a match up for him. He'll probobly kick a goal worth of behinds.

I think we'll match up on your forwards like this:
Williams on Dunn
Everitt on Bate
Morris on Miller
Hargrave on Robbo
Harbrow on Davey

Hopefully it's a good game.

Warnock or Martin will play on Lake if he goes forward. Melbourne may choose to play Newton to try and stretch the doggies defence, grimes can go down back. Bell, Cheney and MacNamara will all push for selection to replace one or both of Frawley and Rivers.

Johnson has actually been playing the opposite, he is playing much further up the ground on the half forward line, would expect Bruce to get him again as asyou said he has done a good job before.
