Werribee playing finals this week, so selection will be interesting.

Perhaps Black gets a gig in Harpers role this week? He has the mobility.

Levi will be busting his guts the second he gets an opportunity. Not only does he have good upper body strength but he's a powerful runner too. He could be a very handy inclusion.

Garlett out is absurd.

OUT: Harper, Delaney
IN: Wells, Grima

I'd also strongly consider Mullett for Campbell. It's a shame Mullett hasn't played more because I don't think we can risk him in finals.

Garlett is one of the neatest players in the game for mine. I thought for the first 3 quarters, he hardly made an error, despite our midfield (bar Swallow, Cunnington) falling apart around him. He is definately not an impact player, but nearly everything he does, he does very well. Great smarts, decent pace, good skills up to 40m. You need these sorts of players and he has done a great job almost cementing his place into the 22. Harper out for mine, Wells in. Delaney out, Grima in.

I wouldn't mind seeing Levi back in for someone like Harper and then move someone else from the midfield to HF (Jack).

Great post. Top sides generally have a good number of quality players just under their stars.

Geelong had Kelly, Wojo, Rooke in 2007. Not superstars but they had continuity within the group and played their roles well.

Hawks had the same with Ladson, Guerra etc and Collingwood had a swag of these quality understudies.

To me guys like Cruize play a very important role in our list and as you point out he does many things very well.

Garlett? If anything we need more contested ball winners with the finals looming.

How can you miss Harper?

Harper is gone.

In: Wells, Grima, Greenwood

Out: Delaney, Harper, Campbell

Grima to defence
Ziebell to spend more time up forward
Levi to the midfield

Wells to sub.

They'd be my changs as well.

Fishy in if Wells doesn't come up and L Delaney stays if Grima isn't ready.

Kieran has been done for about a month now.

In: Pedersen, Wells, Grima
Out: Harper, Campbell, Delaney

Play 4 talls, **** it. Pedersen isn't really a tall anyway, experiment with him in Harper's role as a HF/wingman.

Harvey as sub.

Pedo is injured i'm pretty sure, he didn't play for werribee on the weekend.

Campbell needs a full game...but because Nth Ballarat aren't playing he needs to have it in the ones.

Ins: Fishy, Wells, Greenwood, Grima

Out: McMahon (Rest-looked tired), Harper, McMillan/Gibson (Rest), Delaney

I'd give Greenwood a game as you need taggers in finals. Get him to tag Greene.
Wells and Grima in if they're fit.

Out. Harper needs a rest. Delaney is basically only a 'role player' in the backline at the moment, has done some ok jobs though. I'd also maybe give Gibson a rest, he's been up for quite a while and yesterday looked a bit flat.

Garlett and Campbell look like obvious outs but they're the type of outside players that can rip GWS apart. They don't really need to be 'rested' as they haven't had high workloads over the past 10 weeks. Campbell is the type of player that can kick multiple goals if allowed to roam free. Garlett can potentially pick up 30+ poss's against a weak GWS.

Man.... I want to see 'blood' in the first qtr on sat. We need to get off to an absolute flyer(10goals+) and maintain it for the whole game. The difference b/w a home or Perth final will boil down to %.

HMac would've be handy in the finals, especially with Goldy out of sorts.
I hope they do play Daw in the ruck just to give him some AFL exposure, nothing to lose really.
We can't miss the finals now.

Doubt Wells will play. Grima probably will, maybe subbed off half way through the third if injuries permit.

video on youtube yesterday interviewing Grima and Wells and also showing them do some run throughs. Grima didn't sound confident and thinks another week off may be better for him however Wells looked good, its whether North want to take a risk on him or allow him another week off.

Harper's role is more for a quick burst and delivery into 50 I'd say. More of a Boomer junior, not that he's done such a good job of it over the last month. Black is a completely different player. If anything, he could perform the LT role, but not Harper's role IMO.

I don't see too many blokes who can perform Harper's role, especially considering we've lost Patch as well, around the same area. Perhaps Sierra can do it, even though he is a half back by trade. I've heard from club insiders that the reason Sierra hasn't cracked it for a game is the concerns we've had with his contested ball work. Other facets of his game are very good. But in Harper's role it could be less important, as long as he provides run and delivers well inside 50.

You do realise that we have to win and win big.

We don't have to. But you're right, it would be preferable.

At the end of the day though, its been a long season and i think a few guys need a rest. I think Drew and Boomer getting a rest would do wonders for them the following week.

If we play West Coast over there i think we would get them on the Friday night, meaning a 6 day break.

Why would you say we don't have to?
Surely, you can see that 8th spot will 99% likely have us playing in Perth next week, and only a very big win can deliver us an MCG final.

I say we don't have to because we don't. We finish 8th we still play finals. But I AGREE it would be preferable to play in Melbourne.

That said, using extreme comparisons

Play West Coast after they have had a tough game vs Hawthorn with our best 22 (minus Patch) after the sore bodies have been rested for a week.

or

Play the reigning premier that has not lost for a while, beaten the Hawks on the MCG recently, with guys having had no rest.

Its not that much of a difference. But again, i would rather play the Cats so i can at least go to the game.

Anyways, the saints smashed GWS by 135 without N.R, we can still do them by 100 points plus resting the guys i mentioned. How hungry will Levi, Pedo and Azz be to put their name up their for selection in a final.

Out: Harper, Atley, Harvey, Goldstein, MacMillan
In: Black, Greenwood, Mullett, Daw, Kennedy

Give those blokes a week - no Wells & Grima just yet.

First final:

In: Harper, Atley, Harvey, Goldstein, MacMillan, Wells, Grima
Out: Black, Greenwood, Mullett, Daw, Kennedy, Garlett, Delaney

OUT: Harper (omitted), Campbell (omitted) + anyone a bit tired or sore.
IN: Greenwood, Mullett (sub).

Wells & Grima can have another week off. Sira, Kennedey, Speight & C Delaney a chance if anyone rested.

This could be ugly for Werribee's midfield.
