Changes for R11 v Geelong

Mckinley is just plain lazy. We were smashed in the middle, more often than not outnumbered in our forward 50 and LeCras booted 6. LeCras looks to create ate very opportunity, Mckinley plods around and looks to take hangers. Talented guy, but isn't doing himself any favours

Indeed. He concerns me very much.

He goes for hangers far too often, he's poor below his knees and has no tank.

At 183cm, he is far too short for a key position but he doesn't have the nous, speed or tank for a flank.

What do we do with him?

He'll always snag a few goals playing as an undersized FF but that is the only position he can play and it's in the teams best interests to develop a more conventional option.

At the moment he's rich man's David Haynes

For those praising Nicoski, he was on Garlett when he bagged his 2 goals as well. He let the kid built like a rake just take a virtually uncontested overhead mark 30m out which gave me the shits. Fair enough Betts did nothing much other than his 2nd quarter goal on him. Nico's disposal was good, but as a defender just doesnt have the nous to play on the quicker guys most of the time. Please play him off the forward flank Woosha

No need to make wholesale changes. It will only unsettle the team even more. We are almost full strength, so get the best team on the park, (thinking of the future also), and persist with them.
Against the Cats we need some mature bodies. Stenglein must stay in and if Hunter is not fit, then bring in the Fijian for some excitement levels and play him up forward and rucking in that area.
Swift has had a taste so send him back and reward Houlihan.

Why would we need this? Everytime we tailor the side to play certain opposition and thereby bringing in dead wood we delay our development.

Forget trying to win every game, just get games into the kids who will be our future.

There's just no point in giving a kid 1 game in the current climate we are in. You have to give them 3-4 games minimum.

just cut me down Bunsen :o

Why would you drop Swift?

It is going to take a few games just to get used to the speed of AFL.

Besides, Worsfold almost always gives his young kids min two games so I think he will play next week.

The end is surely near for Hunter...

OUT: Hunter, Stengelin
IN: NicNat, Butler

IN: Natanui Davis Priddis Houlihan
OUT: S.Selwood Hunter McKinley Stenglein

Davis as a small defender, release Wirra back on a HFF, Nic Nat down forward, tackling and rucking sparingly. Lynchy at FF and not the everywhere man hes becoming. Priddis in, Masten in the guts with Houlihan taking his spot on the wing. Stinger to the WAFL till he realises what position he wants to play at AFL level

Bit rough to drop Scott Selwood. He's been pretty good.

Too inconsistent atm and wouldnt of touched the ball last night if his brother didnt giftwrap him about 7 of his 10 disposasl. Send him back to the WAFL until hes accumulating the stats again

I actually saw it the opposite way. I thought Scot Selwood gave Adam a lot of the ball.

Houlihan is no chance. Coaching staff has showed that they are not going to pick him even though he is playing well in the WAFL. Our dropped AFL players (eg. Hansen, Fletch) show that WAFL form does not equate to good AFL form. The distance between the comps is rather large.

Lynchy needs to pick his game up. Does good work around the ground but cannot hold a contested mark to save himself. If only Notte's body was a bit larger he would be in the team straight away!

Now dont get me wrong I love Wirra and he's still in our best side, but no longer in the backline.

It's not what he does it's what he doesnt do?

It's a tactical thing and probably comes about as a result of zoning , but he gets a lot of goals kicked on him. He's always zoned off but no longer has the pace to get back and cover when needed.

When spuds like Houlihan (the Carlton variety) kick 2 on him in a quarter something is wrong.

Time to leave him forward IMO

OUT: Hunter, Stengelin
IN: NicNat, Butler

Surley not Butler. Needs to be some rotation, dropped for one week is not enough his work ethic has been pathetic. In Houlihan, need his endurance and speed.

I think that's a correct assessment. I hate hearing the commentators criticise him. He's been a star for us and if he'd played for a Victorian club would be considered as one of the all-time aboriginal greats.

Last night we had Lynch, Hunter and Kennedy as the talls through the forward line for the majority. Yet when I looked down to deep forward the two guys down there was McKinley (who did nothing all night) and LeCras. LeCras was dominating at the time, why was McKinley anywhere near him? Should have cleared the forward line out for LeCras just as Carlton did for Fevola. It's not as though Lecca can't take a mark, he probably along with Kennedy has the best hands in the team!

Lynch struggles at FF, CHF is the way to go with him IMO, with Kennedy at FF and LeCras or Wirra around his feet.

Anyway here are my changes:

IN: Houlihan, Priddis, Davis
Out: McKinley, Stenglein, McNamara,

At the moment, Lynch just struggles. As a senior player, to miss that snap 15 m out at the start of the second quarter was just ordinary stuff. He has failed to impose himself physically in the forward half for 10 consecutive games this season and was exposed as a back up ruckman yesterday by a side with 2 adequate ruckmen.

In addition, Kennedy is a CHF, not a full forward - why play him out of position?

Woosh wants games into the kids, Lynch is struggling as a forward..... maybe Lynch will come under pressure soon?

NickNat will come into the forward line and back up ruck next week.... if he is half decent this weekend.

So Lynch can be played out of position but not Kennedy?
Kennedy has a much better contested mark than Lynch, why not play him out of FF???
Its not playing him out of position, playing him at CHB would be out of position, he's a tall forward, not a tall CHF. Much more damaging than Lynch at FF

Those calling for Stenglein to be dropped, should first consider the fact we're likely to be without Kerr.

Soft as butter incident, and Murphy went down like a pack of cards, but given Kerr's record it's highly likely he'll get a rest this weekend.

And if Priddis is still out that leaves us with one recognised, experienced midfielder in A Selwood!!

Whilst most of us are keen to get games into kids should we be throwing them to the wolves (or Cats) with very little experience in the midfield?

The problem is that Butler is in a similar position to the young kids because of his injuries and lack of games over the last 5 years. He has been pretty average and earlier in the season when everyone thought highly of him because he was a 'premiership midfielder' I thought he was overrated.

But you need to keep pumping games into him and give him a full season to prove himself, his disposal is one of the best in our team and he won't get any better in the WAFL. I think Rosa is in the same boat, just need to bite the bullet and keep playing these 23-24 year olds and hope they can step up to the plate by the end of the year.

Out: Michael Broadbridge

In: Any Under 13's Coach

Send Broadbridge back to Fremantle where he belongs and get somebody to teach our boys some f**ken skills!!
