Changes for R8 v Sydney

ok will have to think about this one but just thinking at first thoughts, those who played on the weekend who'd be under pressure

1 - Kerr (definate out - injury)
2 - Hunter or McKinley (i think one of these two will get dropped. one will stay in)
---------------
3 - Nicoski (did ok defensively but not great. we need to get some flexibility in our backline)
4 - Spangher (with e mac coming back it will just depend on match ups and the possiblity of moving spang to the wing. could be a match up for goodes - he is a similar stature to staker who did a great job on him a couple of times in the 2005-2006 period)
5 - Schofield (was pretty anonymous on the weekend)
---------------
6 - McNamara (did ok, but will just depend on form and fitness of other mids - was suprised to see included in front of houlihan and swift)
7 - S Selwood (see comment on J-Mac)
8 - Rosa (still playing solidly, but needs to start stepping up. i get the feeling a guy like swift or houlihan can bring just as much to the team, if not more, and it's not like matty has an irreplacable brain of experience)

guys from outside of the 22 who will be putting on the pressure

1 - MacKenzie (obviously if fit, straight back in)
2 - Brown (if it, probably come back in)
---------------
3 - Houlihan (sounds like he didn't play too well on the weekend in the WAFL but was carving up in the weeks before. thought he'd be the next midfielder in line but wasn't in the next 2)
4 - Swift (has a bit of flu, so we'll see there. thought he'd come in after houlihan, but once again was overlooked for J-Mac and Scooter, both who did ok but neither excelled)
5 - Stenglein (with priddis and kerr out, i think Stinger is a must inclusion this week. an experienced inside and/or tagging midfielder will not go astray, even though he was out of form prior to getting dropped)

i don't like the idea of making up to 5 changes (although i'm pretty sure that's what we ended up with between the fremantle game and melbourne game) but with injuries and a few suprise inclusions we could be making 3 or 4.

this is one game where we can get away with being a bit tall and with less speed because the swans are a team that bases their style on physicality and Homebush, although bigger than the SCG, is not a particularly big ground, as is definetaly not a wide ground, so players who use their speed to get on the outside may find themselves a bit cramped

I don't mind seeing Seaby come back this week, even though I'm going to the game and would rather see anyone play other than him. Of all teams to need a backup ruckman for, Sydney is right up there, and it sounds like Seaby has a good game behind him. The reason I'd be happy to see him included is not from a desire to see him find his way back into the team, but so that we don't overwork Cox. There's no point risking him in a game we can't expect to win.

I was hoping for a bolt from the blue this week, hopefully someone like Swift so I could say I was there for his debut, but I guess we'll see. Not the worst game to have some old hands come back.

mitch brown up fwd please!!! i want to see the brown/kennedy combo in action.

out - hunter and kerr
in - emac and brown

kennedy and brown up forward. glass on hall, emac on MOL and spangher in midfield on the wing.

Its more of a Thigh strain not to much to worry about.
He was Replaced in the side due to precaution like MacKenzie.
I think he will play.

Other to have had good games in WAFL and are in contention.

Stenglein- 17 Disp isn't that great but what was good was the 13 Tackles he did have. We are going against the two best tacklers in the AFL (Kirk & Bolton) and we need players that can keep the same pressure up.

Seaby- 41 hitouts and 21 disposals I think he is a genuine chance to get a game seeing as Sydney are the stoppage kings, They love slowing the game down and with Kerr highley unlikely and Hunter a definant out he could give us that extra Marking option close to goal and act as a back up to Cox. Even though Lynch has been doing a good job in the centre he hasn't really been winning the hit outs he's just been a big bodies making it a contest, thus meaning Cox is spending longer and longer on the ground and by the 4th QTR is fatigued and then his effectiveness is non existant, If Seaby could come on at those times and dominate the ruck we would win the game.

Ebert- Battled hard all game and was reading Seaby's taps perfectly, even though he was on the other team. Was very good creating oppertunities for other players and would be a handy inclusion against such a strong physical side.

Fletcher- 29 disp is good but thats not unusual for fletch its the manner he disposes thats the problem, and that hasn't improved.

Swift- Struggled to get into the contest on the weekend and wouldn't deserve a shot IMO this week and probably not the best opponant to be thrown into.

Houlihan-Had a Quiet game and even though his speed could be useful I dont think this would be the right type of game to use his ball carrying abilitys.

Davis- Had a very good game and rebounded beautifully off the hb line could use his aggression in this game and his speed would also be a massive boost for us, Not to mention he from NSW and would get to show his ability in front of friends and Family. Extra motivation.

My Ins and outs for today (will probably change everyday LOL)

Cockie will play, Stenglien, Fletcher, Seaby should be back. Kerr, Priddis & Hunter will be out.

Out:
Kerr, Hunter, Spangher

In:
Seaby (Cox will need more support than what Lynch can offer).
Fletcher & Stenglein (maybe playing Sydney will bring back their best effort).

With Hunter out it seems logical that Lynch will go back to being a permanent forward (does ok against Sydney anyway) and Seaby/NickNat will come in to give Coxy a hand..

Being in Sydney I would think selectors would lean towards Seaby..

Way too early for Naita. I don't think he's played a full WAFL game this season yet has he?

From the training report, Mackenzie looks to be in doubt again. Assuming Brown is good to go, I'd take a stab at:

INS: Brown, Stenglein, Seaby
OUTS: Spangher, Kerr, Hunter

As mentioned by others, this allows Lynch to take Hunter's role with Seaby as the backup ruckman.

Stenglein back in gives us another option on Goodes and even McVeigh.

I wonder who Sydney will tag?
