If it is wet i want to see Redden replace Brander on the wing. Brander wasn't to bad in dry weather on the wing where he took 7 marks but he wasn't that flash in the wet which is fair enough.

From there why dont we bring in Brayshaw? He can become that tagger in the middle and tell him to block and tackle and just go for it.

Is Jamaine Jones up to fitness? Before being re-drafted he played forward in the VFL and was a known to chase and tackle ( something we clearly lack atm)

Out: Gov, Brander, Petch
In: Rotham, JJ, Brayshaw

Shep Barass Hurn
Jetta Rotham Duggan

Redden Kelly Gaff

JJ Darling Ah Chee
Ryan JK Cripps

Ruck: Nic Nat , Shuey , Yeo

Bench: Sheed, Nelson, Allen, Brayshaw
Brayshaw is way too slow to be a tagger

They've put us on FTA. Hopefully the boys don't embarrass themselves again.

Not a bad list. I ain't mad at it.

When we recruited Jones I spoke to a few of the Geelong supporters. They spoke about him as being not very flash, but full of effort. Probably exactly what we need to be honest.

I'd prefer Cole over Nelson, and question the Brayshaw selection, but not too bad.

The Telstra tracker was pretty damning. We lost AVG speed in attack and defence were doubled overall in repeat sprints had only 2 out of the top 5 in terms of total KMs. Had no player in the top 5 AVG speed. Ah Chee had the highest AVG speed in attack and the most repeat sprints. Whoever plays the workrate needs to be a hell of a lot better all over.
we should run over Bris in the 4th then. plenty of gas in the tank

I'm wondering if the shorter quarters will hurt us. Last few seasons we seem to come back late in games and snatch a win over running the opposition. Now we have 5 minutes less each quarter to 'get back'.

I was thinking that during the game and its in those last few minutes that Gaff really shines.

Sunny but with the chance of showers.

Its a night game so the dew will also make things slippery.

Horses or courses please!!

I think rain would be preferable to dew. Not sure why, but we seem to handle the ball better in full rain than in dewy conditions... (that may be an application thing between the ears though)

Schoey for Gov seems obvious, if Shuey is out (which would mean JK becomes captain - so no way we drop him) then surely we bring in a JJ or Waterman. We are already playing one extra mid - so that balances it out with bringing in a forward (albeit we lose a lot of balance as Shuey is irreplaceable).

we probably would have been top 2 or top 4 in 2017 had we had shorter quarters.

i reckon we lost a few late close ones that year after leading

gold coast, melb, stk and coll come to mind

Ive missed the bit about Shuey- is he under an injury cloud? If he is out we are in all sorts.

In any case, another tall in waterman to replace a mid would do the opposite of balance the list. We were too tall last week and will likely be too tall again this week. Im all for bringing Waterman in but I would do so at the expense of AhChee. Waterman is marginally taller granted, but they are the same type of player but Waterman gives better effort and is a better player IMO.

Looked all banged up. Judging by the training photos ( He has got cuts on his face) he seemed to be training in contact drills) he seems a big chance to play.

I think the height difference between Waterman and AhChee is only 2cm (accordingly to Wikipedia anyway).

Ah Chee and Petch are really beneficiaries of the unavailability of Rioli, Venables and Cameron. I think bringing in a Jones (off interrupted preparation) or Treacy would be bit of an overreaction, but they should be on notice. Jones is in the emergencies for that reason.

Waterman and Williams unlucky but we can’t afford to get any taller.

Might be an overreaction but the inability of Petch or Ah Chee to record a tackle between them when part of their role is to put on forward pressure is a bit damning. Petch only seems to uses his pace if he has the ball or thinks he can get an easy goal from the goal square. I like Ah Chee but think Waterman offers more effort and more consistency.

Time to bring in Waterman for Ah Chee and/or Jones for Petch. Jones is 5cm shorter than Petch so if we do both we are also making the side shorter!

Not sure how we fit them in but wouldn’t mind theses changes
Bailey Williams in to help out in the ruck.Stephan Martin not the same ruckman and wasn’t great last week and area we should look to dominate and get first use of the ball.
Jake Waterman up forward will provide more of a target ,will run harder than most of our forwards did last week and wouldn’t be surprised if he adapted to the conditions a bit better than Cripps or Archee.
Frankee Watson & Josh Rotham also down back ,will provide more run out of defence ,need to start getting games into the young kids who have been on our list for 3 or 4 seasons.
Brisbanes fwd line hasn’t been great beside Charlie Cameron so hopefully a lot of work goes into him & we have plan A & plan B ready to go

Here are some clues as to who is in the mix.

JJ making his debut would be great for him.
