I think we're missing a trick here.

Lynden Dunn to come in and play back. Reid to squish Riewoldt, Dunn to Griffiths. Howe and Maynard to provide zoned support and keep Butler, Castagna quiet. Ramsay to Rioli.

WHE to play the wing (Varcoe). Aish for Blair.

In: Aish, Dunn
Out: Varcoe, Blair
Henry schade ?

Remember when Scarlett used to run off Rocca all day and absolutely slice us up?

The game has only gotten faster. Players are fitter. Kirby right now will be murdered by his man on the rebound. And given the amount of trouble we already have with that over the top goal shit how can anyone honestly think it'd be a good idea to bring in an out of shape player that's never played at AFL level?

Give him time to get in shape first ... it sucks because we need a player with his talent but hey that's what happens when your professional athletes show up out of shape.

Bet you said the same thing when Broomhead Ramsay and Kennedy were drafted

Very few kids have a big impact in their first 2 years, even less that start with poor fitness.

How many players have made a major impact in their 1st yr of footy.. you just don't know what Kirby will do given the chance.

You're just running off a cliche man.

Oh yeah. I'm really going to have to get used to this new side aye?

Well I still stand by WHE on the wing. Hmmm. Now I'm stumped. Just not sure Broomy is the answer just yet. Richmond feel a bit bigger in offense and I worry he'd be all pushed around. Unless Mayne goes back and Broomy to FWD pocket?

In all fairness you guys drafted him out shape.
Dont get me wrong Kirby has all the attributes to be star. He was a CatB rookie for us if nobody else wanted him and many on our board were spewing when you guys picked him up. He lost some weight while in our VFL team but still has heaps more to go to get his body and fitness right.

He will come good

Any news on Sidebottoms injury? Always seems to have blinders against us.

Complete nonsense, forward 50 pressure is one of the most important aspect of modern footy because without it teams like the Bulldogs whip the ball from deep into defence and waltz into the forward line with defensive rebound and cut you up time after time. Forwards "chasing" not only stops opposition goals but also causes your teammates to kick more goals

"Forward pressure" is a buzz word.

Every team tries to "pressure" the opposition.
When you recruit a player, you don't recruit him on his "pressure".

Jarryd Blair apparently has immense pressure acts yet is a donkey of a footballer.

There's only one thing that matters in importance and that is goals.
Plain and simple.

I don't care how many chases, tackles or pressure acts a forward does.
His job is to score goals.
If he cannot do this, he is useless.

Fortunately for Fas he is a very good forward.
So let's hope his goals continue otherwise we will continue to go backwards with the lack of quality goal kickers we have at the club.

Every single coach in the AFL couldn't disagree with you more strongly.

That's rubbish. Every single one of them would take a 3 goal a game small forward and sacrifice the pressure in a heartbeat.

If he stops hitting the scoreboard questions will be asked otherwise it's status quo because we have enough workhorses!

I'm not talking about Fasolo, I'm talking about forward 50 pressure is VITAL in modern Footy.

No pressure like score board pressure Kappa!

I know I said I wouldn't comment about last weeks game..........but this comes from a Pies player after the review.

The gist of it was they needed to clean up their forward entries..............too sloppy!

So all the zone and David King experts can hold fire for another week. :p

Sacrificing 1 in 6 positions up forward.. for someone to harass and tackle.. does not guarantee a goal anyhow!

The ball going in there.. having a bloke crumb/mark and kick the IGA salami is what it is about.

Make things easier for ya Kappa..

If we had 10 brilliant forwards for eg.. do we have to sacrafice 5 of em.. for a harrasing/tackling specialist. For the most part.. a good goal kicking forward does that anyhow.

The two go hand in glove. He hits the scoreboard because he's lazy going the other way. You can't have it both ways Kappa!

Fas needs to work harder, whilst he is our most prolifically forward we also need him to apply more pressure.

I was at the VFL match on Fri and while only a VFL praccy, Kirby looked anything but lazy or unfit.

Definitely has a bit of a roof over the toolshed, but for some players (see Byron Picket et al) that's not a dealbreaker. He's not as far off as some think IMO.

Was doing some good two way running and tackling and didn't seem to be out of gas.

Certainly ain't gonna play first few rounds, but I can see him getting a debut before the mid point of the season if he puts in a few more performances like that.
