Ah Chee will not come straight in as he was injured in the first pre season game and needs to get his minutes up at EP before being an option. Venables will get scans because his injury was the same type as Ryan. We'll have to wait and see how long he's out for.

Touche, i did indeed say that. Although i don't think it warrants much debate TBH, his form at West Coast is without a doubt, the worst of his career apart from his first couple of seasons at Brisbane... Do you disagree?

There's also a few more club stats you left out which might paint more of a picture :moustache:

+2nd at the club for Clangers. Yeo is leading mind you, although i think the way Yeo is a match winner, some slack can be cut.

+ Averaging/totaled less contested possessions than Gaff. Damning considering he's an inside midfielder and work horse apparently.

+ The only midfielder on the team without a Goal Assist all year. In fact he's the only PLAYER in the team without a Goal Assist, apart from McGovern, Hurn, Barrass, Nelson and Schofield, who are all defenders. Hutchings, who played 1 game, also hasn't had one yet.

+ Ranked 17th at the club for Metres gained (200m) granted his inside role isn't very friendly for this stat. And yet Sheed, Yeo, Gaff and Shuey, who all get more contested ball, have more than DOUBLE the average metres gained per game than he does.

+ Statistically champion data has him as our 5th worst player for the season, going by their rankings points. Only Venables, Rioli, Schofield and Nelson have averaged less.

+ Ranked 23rd at the club for disposal effiency. Only Rioli and Ryan have used the ball worse than Redden.

I do realize he had a knock to his leg in the 3rd quarter and was hampered by it in the 4th. But these are current season stats, not one game.

Those are certainly some very unflattering stats. (Although I do remember being told more than once in a lengthy thread about another inside midfielder that stats didn't tell the full picture... ;) )

I will say that Redden was in my outs this week.

And my biggest issue with the trade in 2015 was that he qualified as a free agent 12 months later. We certainly didn't get enough out of him in 2016 to warrant paying a first rounder to get him a year early.

Except the various times he squibbed against Sydney.

Has EP still got the restriction on the number of Eagles players that can play in the league side?

I read in round 1 that the two clubs have agreed to a cap of 12 Eagles players.

We're carrying a few more knocks than you'd like for this time of year, but the thought of OAllen, Sneeze and Vardy all making their way back is really encouraging stuff.

Luke Shuey didn’t train today either. Couple of concerns for West Coast, especially if LeCras gets a week for his bump. Have to think Brayden Ainsworth and Tom Cole are in the mix.

If Shuey is out sore i think we can get away with resting him for a week. Bring in Hutchings in his role.

Has been told to put on weight which he has.....so no one is pushing Masto around anymore .......inside running bull .

I hope anyway !!
That was last season he put on the weight .
He was told to strip it off and focas on his running game this season . Think he has lost 4-5 kgs

Would sets a weird precedent, if you go to bump someone legally and they fall and hit their head then you are liable.
So what then, we outlaw the bump? Lecca performed a legal bump and the dude got hurt, thats a contact sport for ya.
Note that there wasn't a free kick paid against him at the time so the umpires thought it was all fair and legal.

If you watch the tape, his head never slammed into the ground.

The reason why it wasn't paid a free kick was because the play had stopped and GC already had a free kick.

Trent Cotchin got let off with his preliminary final bump even though he got his got opponent high, medical report stated his opponent had concussion, and he had prior strikes at tribunal.

I know the AFL love to doctor their tribunal results where a grand final is involved, but this sets a precedent. A fine should suffice for Le Cras

There's no point talking about last year IMO.
Last years decision to let Cotchin off was disgraceful.

I hope he get's off but I doubt it.

You don't need to have your head hit something to be knocked out.

Leccas hit him in the solar plexus, his head snapped back and his brain kept going forward and smacked into his skull.

He averaged less disposals and tackles in 2016, and again this year, than he did as a 19 year old in his second season.

Surely Anus could offer just as much

Reddo was poor on saturday (ableit copped a knock) though i think his first 3 rounds were fine. If his output is 20 touches and 5-6 tackles as it was rounds 1-3 then he is doing his job.

Remember that unlike at Brisbane, he is being used as our 5th on ball rotation (behind yeo, shuey, sheed, gaff). Its actually a great sign we have 4 mids playing at a high level at the moment and pushing him down the order. If you can name a 5th or 6th mid at any of the other teams in the comp that is racking up consistent 25+ touch games id be surprised

Well its probably lucky that this playing future is in the hands of people that know what they are doing and not some uninformed armchair critic.
Masten's role this season appears to be the flipside of Gaff.
They compliment each other, one a left footer, one a right footer, hard running, presenting across half back, distance covered and presenting as a loose man in attack. Together they have created a two pronged weapon going inside 50.
Again I say credit where credit is due to both the player and the new look coaching staff.

Used to play rover and I don't like soft footballers. Lets see him do this when the going gets tough.
