Partington has nice WAFL form, but it seems the MC have him behind Hutch and Ainsworth because they have been the EMGs the last couple (with Hutch playing one).

I'd like to get a look at Ainsworth, but would be fine if Hutch came in. I don't like it when blokes who have been picked to be EMG all of a sudden aren't picked for the 22 because they haven't been able to play games due to being EMG and a bloke in the WAFL, who they were picked to be EMG ahead of, jumps in front. That said, horses for courses and all that.

Hagdorn reckons Shuey and Shep in serious doubt for this week, and Venables out for two months. Key word being the first....

Lay off Hagdorn. He was the only journo to get the scoop on Jetta being in doubt last week.

I mean, it turned out there was absolutely nothing to it, but still...

There's been a couple of genuine options each time we've had forced changes this year - we even have unlucky players missing each week. When did this happen?

Hutch is the versatile replacement for Venners. He is quite handy around goal, his roving isnt bad but most importantly he is a good tackler. Defensive forward pressure is what we need up there with our plethora of talls.
And of course he has a reasonable inside mid game as well and could play a shut down roll on someone like Cripps if they started to get away from us.
If Parto's defensive game is not up to it as some have said, then I don't think he will get a look in. Our tackling this year has what has stood out the most to me and I believe we need to keep it as a priority. Last year drove me insane watching the opposition waltz through ineffective tackles. This year we are making them stick and that pressure is helping us enormously.

I would replace Venables with Partington, have Partington play a similar role to his AFL one last year.

Cole for Sheppard is a no brainer if Shep isn't fit.

We can't just replace Venables with anyone, it all comes down to the balance of our forward line :footy:

We've walked the tight rope of being too tall up forward, but that's been offset by the addition of all our speedy small forwards like Ryan, Rioli and Venables.

Now 2 of 3 are out of the team, we're really pushing it for speed up forward, hence why Ainsworth or Hutchings shouldn't be in consideration.

Petrucelle is my choice, despite the fact he probably isn't "ready" he still ticks the boxes for what we'll be desperately lacking up forward. Parto or at a stretch Karpany would be my next preference.

It's either that ^ Or we shuffle things around and bring in Cole then play Yeo forward

Wouldn't mind Karpany in for Venables, Partington for Shuey and Cole for Shep.
If Redden does not get up then either Hutch or Ainsworth. Need to replace pace with more pace.

There is no way Hutchings can take Cripps. He is 195cms and KP sized... So if we are going to tag him put Yeo on him.

In: Hutchings , Karpany, Cole
Out: Shuey (Inj) , Venable (inj) Shep (Inj)

- Hutchings can be that inside mid role that Shuey did so well.

- Went Cole over Schoey as they only really have a few talls up front.

- Went Karpany over Parto for the fact he is quicker and can spend some minutes on a wing/mid.

Cole Barrass Hurn
Jetta Gov Duggan

Masten Sheed Karpany

Waterman Darling Cripps
Lecra JK Rioli

Ruck: Nic Nat Gaff Yeo

Bench: Nelson , Lycett, Redden, Hutchings

Your choice
Seems the only avenue still open to you
Not sure your whinging in here is going to bare much fruit.
But have a feeling your going to be stuck with Masten for the whole year
As I said before suck it up and enjoy the ride.

yes that makes sense especially since simmo reads these looking for ideas we all know that.

Agree.

I didn’t want Masten in the team at seasons start.

Refer my posts leading up to Rnd 1 & changes to Rnd 2 team.....

My issue? Posters not supporting a player that has clearly put some effort into improving his game. SHIT, he evaded 3 players in one play last rnd and has actually freed his arms several times this season....that is unheard of regarding Masten

I hope he continues to play the way he is, because it gives us a another running option that helps the club I love and support in the imeadiate future.

A very sensible comment not one I disagree with kudos where they are earned biggie. See my original comment I was just saying he never does this when the going gets tough. He is soft but when we win by a massive margin he looks great has been his MO his whole career, nothing new to see this year sorry fellas with short memories.
